The LEGO Batman Comic-con trailer

ChaosEngine says...

I am looking forward to this so much more than any of the DCU movies.

Although I expect the animated version of the Killing Joke to be pretty good

The LEGO Batman Comic-con trailer

Daredevil -- Season 2 Trailer

ChaosEngine says...

Looking forward to this based on the first series, although I have zero interest in the Punisher.

"one bad day away from being me".... now that's interesting.

That's the Jokers line from the Killing Joke. Are they implying that the Punisher is a bad guy ('cos he pretty much is)?

Bill Burr Weighs In On Gay Marriage

I doubt there is a single thing left that can be considered going too far -- other than going too far and inciting a riot or having people kill for you with jokes that control people's minds. Or just a simple, classic killing joke. Yes, when the listener hears the punch line, they die because they're a faggot. Oh, I forgot to tell you the joke only kills faggots and has a side effect of transforming a foetus into a raving mentally challenged serial killer that kills other babies and wears baby faces. Hmm... I'm thinking 3d printable action figures.

Everything Burns

I love Ledger's performance and TDK is a great movie (if overrated due to a mess of a 3rd act).

But I always say the writing of The Joker in TDK felt off to me. He seems to want to make statements and affect people's feelings. But Joker doesn't care what anyone thinks or feels. Not even Batman. He only cares for his own amusement and he's mostly amused by people dying (unless you're doing the crime-boss version of Joker who is basically that but aims his sick plans at making money). To me Jack Nicholson's joker is closer to the real spirit of the character... a true psychotic clown who "kills people until art happens".

For the record I also think The Killing Joke sort of screws up the character, despite being a brilliant comic in and of itself.

Vegetarians -- Mitchell and Webb

Wills09 says...

Yeah, and don't even get me started on Jews - I made a Kosher meal for my Jewish friends and when I went around to dinner at their place they wouldn't make me bacon and pork chops! It's almost as though they had deeply held beliefs on a subject I never bothered to think about.

P.s. Mitchell & Webb actually balanced this quite nicely with the cat killing joke - My whinging is directed at the pitchfork brigade, who jump at the chance to complain about tiny minorities who impinge on their lives in the slightest, most easily tolerable ways.

Nice! I'll try to keep them in mind. I'm a little backed up on bands that I need to check out, but I don't have enough delicious 80s rocking out on my computer right now.

Killing Joke were kinda like the Rage Against the Machine of their time except they weren't as political as they were meta-sociological - trying to be a dark reflection of the culture of the times. I highly recommend the first three albums (eponymous, "What's THIS for?" and "Revelations") as well as "Pandemonium" as their best stuff.

I'm sad to say I've never even heard of this band, but that's a really catchy riff.

From one former DJ to another, may I say: nice job!

(I don't have any recordings of my former glory days, but imagine "I've been waiting for tommorow" by The The mashed with "Tension" by Killing Joke and you've got the basic idea)
