The dangers of a Russian energy superpower

newtboy says...

Sky News!? That’s like Fox on meth without the pretext that they’re pro-America. Foreign Anti American propaganda from an anti democracy anti America foreigner.
Love the way you love those who absolutely hate America so consistently.

Sorry, @bobknight33….the only reasons Trump didn’t start any wars (and boy did he want to) are 1) his advisors repeatedly talked him down from most, but not all provocations (how we avoided war in Iran I’ll never know, multiple assassinations often lead to war, especially when you murder generals and their entourage on foreign soil.)
And 2) he never contradicted or stood up to our enemies, he courted, praised, and capitulated to them completely. Why would Russia go to war when we completely ignored their invasions and expansion and took their word over our own intelligence community?

Derp….the pipeline Trump’s whining about was cancelled by the Germans. How great an idea to have them spend billions then cancel certification!

I know you have the memory of a meth head gnat, but come on, Bobby. Are you really that clueless….oh wait, yes you are. You just claimed Russia didn’t invade under Trump a day or two ago.

You didn’t just fail current events and history class here, Bob, you got a 12% average. Once again, you make it impossible to believe you graduated from an American college, difficult to believe you graduated high school. So sad.

Anonymous message to Vladimir Putin

BSR says...

Hero hackers claim to have breached Belarusian weapons firm

The international hacker collective Anonymous appears to have made good on its declaration of cyberwar against Russia and its allies, apparently exposing 200GB of emails from Belarusian weapons manufacturer Tetraedr.

Anonymous breached the firm’s defenses and released the most recent 1,000 emails from inboxes belonging to Tetraedr employees, passing them over in .EML format to the information transparency platform DDoSecrets. It also made public a complete archive of each inbox in .PST format, though the hackers noted that some files may have been corrupted by the export process.

Tetraedr is a private company founded in 2001 that specializes in making advanced radio-electronic weapons systems. It is based in Belarus, which has provided Vladimir Putin with logistical support in his invasion of Ukraine. Its dictatorial leader, Alexandr Lukashenko, has long been regarded as a puppet of Putin.

“Greetings, citizens of the world,” announced Anonymous in a statement on DDoSecrets, a non-profit whistleblower site set up in 2018. “We are the PWN-Bar Hack Team, we stand for equal opportunity pwnage and unrestricted access to information.”

Trump’s Loyalties

trump salute NK generals like a cuck. putin emboldened by watching cuck trump. republicants can cuck on this: Biden has completely outsmarted putin. undercut every pretext putin had to justify an invasion, leaving the world, and especially russian people, without any plausible explanation for invasion AND biden unified democratic allies to support ukraine’s defense and russia sanctions.

putin started playing checkers and biden turned it into a game of chess. this wont end well for putin and, unfortunately, russian population.

the scenes from ukraine are heartbreaking

Responded to the invasion with a training exercise nearby. I forgot what a strong military response Trump had, showed real strength. Putin must have been terrified.

An even bigger response than when the report on Malaysia flight 17 came out in 2018 proving Russian military used a Russian missile to shoot down a commercial airliner. Trump-*crickets*

Is she retarded? Its an invasion, stupid!

What is the supposed mixed messaging? What confrontation?

Its an invasion, your hero has started a war, Bob.

Trump’s Loyalties

newtboy says...

Bob, you ignorant slut

Putin invaded Crimea before Trump, true, and we eventually responded with harsh sanctions under Obama/Biden (not as harsh as now, we had less support). Trump’s people, before taking office, were on tape promising to remove any sanctions as soon as he took office, a crime btw and what Flynn went down for….then he recognized Russian Crimea halting any further international response.
Oh, and let’s not forget withholding military aid as they were being invaded to blackmail the Ukrainians into making up lies about and fake investigations into Biden.

It’s utterly asinine to pretend Putin wouldn’t expect the go ahead from Trump, who is cheerleading him on as we speak, offering high praise for the genius invasion, and have his full cooperation in blocking NATO from responding. Trump never once opposed or contradicted Putin. Not a bit surprising it’s your position. You are so gullible…and ignorant.

Putin DID invade Ukraine under Trump you moron. His forces were already in the Provence/states he declared independent, and have been for years. It was a smaller force, not full scale invasion, but his military was present and controlled the areas.
He’s escalating now, he says, because NATO is being strengthened (thanks largely to Biden, despite Trump wanting out of NATO) and he’s scared shitless that Ukraine will join and get help crushing the Russia backed separatists, quickly followed by other ex soviet satellites.

Putin is pausing that escalation now because of the strong response from Biden and our NATO allies.

How’re Trump’s criminal charges and civil cases doing? LMFAHS!!!

CNN Confronts Biden Advisor on Ukraine

moonsammy says...

I don't understand the point that's being made here. She's objecting to him describing it as the "latest" invasion rather than the more generic "an invasion"?

Bob, can you explain what we're supposed to find upsetting about this? It seems like incredibly nitpicky fluff, but perhaps there's some subtlety I'm missing that would have a real impact in some way...?

Russia clearly has invaded Ukraine at this point. And that's bad, I hope you'd agree, as Ukraine is a sovereign democracy and has done nothing to warrant a hostile invasion of this sort. The Biden admin has correctly recognized it as a hostile and unwarranted invasion, and appears to be responding in a manner which is reasonable for the situation, given our relationship with Ukraine.

Where's the beef?

LMFAHS.
Yeah, you don’t sound triggered at all. Not one bit.

Way to intelligently answer the question.

*snicker*

Biden is moving towards putting American troops in Eastern Europe to stop Putin’s expansion plans….Trump illegally and secretly withheld congressionally approved arms and funding from the Ukraine that they desperately needed to fight Putin’s active invasion in a blackmail scheme, and recognized his annexation of Crimea without a whimper, and ignored multiple assassinations on foreign soil with collateral damages.
Biden helped draft crippling sanctions against Russia in 2016, Trump illegally negotiated those sanctions away for nothing in return before being sworn in, as a favor to his friend Vladimir….it’s what Flynn pleaded guilty to (after he learned he was on tape doing it).
So ignorant and deluded, bob. I guess that’s why you consistently fail to include any facts in your posts, it’s hard to fact check whining and sniveling.

Biden press conference

newtboy says...

No, that was Trump’s policy. Officially recognize their military takeover of Crimea, and do nothing about Ukraine.

Biden isn’t doing what I think is right, installing American troops on the border and offering the full backing of the American military against invasion like we agreed to by nuclear disarmament treaty, but he’s threatening crushing sanctions with UN nation backing, an improvement over “whatever you want, honey.” that was Trump’s Russia policy.

Stop with the cut and paste laziness….or at least fix your multiple stupid fucking grammar mistakes and infantile chant. Sweet zombie Jesus, you’re insufferable.

Taiwan: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (HBO)

StukaFox says...

I don't know, but there's a few things that concern me:

1. Underestimating your advisory. We did this with Japan in the lead up to WW2. Great powers always fight the last war they won. In our case, that's WW2. China learned from the war they lost as well: WW2, and they're not going to make the same mistakes twice.

2. Ambiguous defense posture. This is how England got dragged into WW1 due to an uncertain position if Germany invaded France. Germany gambled that England wouldn't get involved because it had no spoken mutual defense agreement with France. Had the defense pact been made readily clear, it's possible Germany wouldn't have invaded.

2. Use it or lose it weapons. In WW1, one of the main issues with the initial invasion was train schedules. Things had to go perfectly to get men and material to the front line and any hiccup could delay a military victory. Once the very first German troop train left the station, there was no way to stop the invasion. Now we've got a situation where a war over Taiwan would be won or lost in about an hour of the first shot. China knows that should the US get involved, China's military assets are going to be blown up and fast. This puts China in a situation where they might choose the launch everything in a maximum impact first strike. Faced with overwhelming damage, the US would be forced to make some hard choices about how to respond. Would it go nuclear? It's according to how much Taiwan means to us.

"It won't happen". Go to Europe and see how many tombstones bear that inscription.

I'd say 50/50.

Land of Mine Trailer

newtboy says...

Explain please.

The first wrong was being a Nazi youth invader attacking their neighbors and trying to subjugate or eradicate them....IMO that's actually three wrongs at a minimum, but I digress.

What's the second wrong? Using POWs this way was common practice then....no Geneva convention yet banning it. Most POWs were treated exponentially worse, starved and tortured to death or used as slave labor and worked to death on dangerous projects. By comparison, these Hitler youths were coddled.

Being forced to clean up a small mine field before release is hardly on par with that....there are still allegedly POWs alive in Vietnam and elsewhere....They would jump at the chance to clear mines and be released.

And what's the alternative? Leave the mines to kill civilians? Have the victims of invasion do the dirty work of cleaning up the mess the invading Nazis left? I think forcing the invaders to clean up the mess they made is the ONLY right move, anything else is wrong....like what we do, dropping hundreds of thousands of mines on foreign soil from the air with no idea where most end up and just leaving them to disable a country for generations. That is wrong....this isn't even harsh IMO.

Shoplifting Running Rampant

newtboy says...

Nonsense. Utter nonsense.
"Steal whatever you want and it's no longer a crime." "Stealing is now allowed." Utter bullshit. Stealing a steak is no longer a felony, it's still a crime. Repeat offenders can be charged with felonies for petty theft. Groups can be individually charged with the entire amount the group steals. Going back repeatedly to steal more doesn't reset the amount stolen. Just so much hyper exaggeration and outright *lies in this anti-California hit piece. What this stopped was 17 year olds being charged with felonies and as adults for stealing one $1 taco, like my friend was in the 80's.

Hilarious they denounce this as causing "violence in America" when the reason it passed was non violent petty criminals were filling the prisons, causing violent criminals to get reduced or no sentences. It was passed to combat violence in America. It does not effect the penalty for any crime involving violence, and frees up space to incarcerate violent criminals.

They lied so many times in this video, in so many ways. Is there a problem, yes. Is prop 47 the main cause? Absolutely not. Is theft not a crime in California?
No, it's absolutely a crime still today.

Poverty in high cost of living areas are the main cause. Lax policing, only wanting to go after felonies because it helps their careers is another. Prison overcrowding is another. Little security in stores with expensive easily resellable small items in bad/impoverished neighborhoods is another. This is not just a California or Bay Area issue, these group store invasions have been a regular occurrence nation wide for years if not decades.

Odd how these people love to bemoan all the anti business laws in California, but don't want to recognize that California is the biggest, most robust economy in America, the fifth largest in the world if it were a country, with the second largest growth in the world if it were a country, only beaten by China in growth. Also hilarious that, when compared with TOTAL taxation, average residents of Texas ($60-$80k per year) pay MORE in taxes than the same earning level in California.
Also hilarious that, while many if not most states are sliding deeper in debt, California has a $70-$80BILLION dollar surplus. ...but by all means, right wingers, move out, it's a failed state. 🤦‍♂️
