Sia - The Greatest
I understand that it's incredibly impressive in terms of training, discipline and physical ability, but I'll never not find interpretative dance ridiculous.

Stephen Fry Hates Dancing
I genuinely wish this video did made me disagree with Stephen. I want to get it. I really do, but I don't. In fact, I think she's kind of making his point - or at least a portion of it.
I actually like dancing though. I like it because I like getting stupid and have no interest in pretending it's anything more than that. I don't get interpretive dance and I don't get this as a response to Stephen's feelings on the subject and I'm sure this would not "make the man shudder."
Stephen Fry Hates Dancing
Well, I did watch the video, and it sucked, as does all interpretative dancing, and most if not all other forms of dancing as well. Monologue was spot on.
Florence + The Machine - What Kind of Man (Pop)
Upvoting because my love for Flo and her music outweighs my disdain for interpretive dance.
Sia - Elastic Heart
I wasn't aware that interpretive dance has age categories.
And his brand of insanity clearly works here. I can't imagine anyone outdoing his emotional performance. I suspect that our perception of his mental state dovetails perfectly with this role.
He's 28, she's 12. He -realistically- could be her father.
...and like, he's PROVEN batshit.
Sign Language Rap Battle
I'm completely ignorant when it comes to sign language, but at the end when all three are signing, they are all sing different motions and gestures... so clearly, they aren't actually signing the words. It's more like a form of interpretive dance to my eyes.
My question is: is signing so ill-equipped for a musical style like rap that they just get across a few words and try to represent the attitude of the lyrics more than anything?
Squarepusher - 1000 + BPM robotic guitarist
I dunno man, you listen to some of those insane compositions by Nancarrow and a few of them kinna suck you in-It helps to get into the mind of composer a bit, the guy might have been reclusive and maybe a touch autistic and you can maybe perform some interpretive dance (seizure) to his comps but I regard most music as novelty anyhow....
Check this one found recently along the same lines of attack-Impossible for one person to play alone, but I'll betcha two people side-by-side on the same piano could do it...
There have been many "unplayable by humans" compositions for the Player Piano dating back 100 years. IMHO, they sound very unnatural and not something I'd listen to more than once for a curiosity. Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should.
That said, this robot band is way better than Chuck E' Cheese's. Add in a holographic singer, and would be a huge success in Japan.

Ryan's First Whose Line Scene With Colin
Salami theme was excellent and the dance had me rolling. This must've been back when people first discovered how dumb and hilarious interpretive dance is.
Shakespeare bit was brilliant -- they even incorporate the salami bit -- but it makes me doubt this was done on the spot. That was too good. "I don't mean to prick your illusion. But if you were a woman, thy prick you should not have."
Ahhh, prick away my friend, prick away.
"Baisers de Nantes" face aux anti-mariage et adoption gay
So the guy in the skinttight suit doing his little interpretative dance is *against* gay marriage?
Methinks he doth protest too much
