G8/G20 - Crash The Meeting
I did and do have a problem with the way the Canadian media reported this story. The first framing of this story or recent history was given without question to so called official sources. Official sources say this, official sources say that, the chief of TO police says this, the mayor of To says that. And during the protests their framing of what was going on was repeated at the top of the hour on every news channel, along with the repeating reel of the guy smashing a police car window. Their PR message dominated.
And people actually bought into the framing as if it's some kind of foreign invasion.
There is a fault in the Canadian media. It's top heavy with a terribly low amount of independent journalism broadcasts.
Now, after the fact we can look back and see the police brutality that happened, and maybe think of why such a large group gathered. But the CBC and CTV clearly failed at presenting reality. They're too used to paroting government spokesman and trying to keep the people calm and safe to do any good journalism.

This is mind-blowing stuff. And it's great to see actual independent journalism that Bill Moyers does.
