Which upcoming film releases are you looking forward to? (Cinema Talk Post)
Cannes had some heavy entries this year and Antichrist/Enter the Void are probably worthwhile to watch..Haneke's film doesn't look like fun indeed - saw the trailer - but knowing his reputation..
The most recent Cormac McCarthy film The Road is hopefully (almost) as good as No Country for Old Men..but the new Coen bros film, A serious man, I don't know..
Korine will be good I guess, hope they'll release the Korine film, his last film was not.
Herzog with 2 films coming out..good stuff..
And a new Todd Solondz, black humour:)
Avatar will be an interesting moment in cinema history..
And indeed 2010 with Burton's Alice; Nolan's scifi..
and King Shot (produced by Lynch)
>> ^blankfist:
Dunston Checks In
Indeed something to look backward to..and think, why? Any flicks you're looking forward to blankie?
And Sarzy, you'll do a report from the festival on your blog? Wish I could be there..
Why use dynamite when you can use an atomic bomb!?
interesting
but unapplicable title i think
a conventional explosive would probably be useless here.. it would just turn the rock to mush and would leave the possibility of making the problem worse
while a nuclear detonation will force the rock to compress around the detonation bubble
also, getting a comparable conventional payload to that location would be highly impractical
i'm not any expert on oil/gas issues though
the iraqis set the oilfields on fire as they retreated so there might be some good documentaries about that
werner herzog did a beautiful documentary about the oil fires of kuwait in 1992; Lessons of Darkness

Homeboy, you're in the tropics! Take that thick shirt off and you'll feel a lot better.
don't be a prole, man. they always lose.
Klaus Kinski incredible Jesus rantings-master of expression
you can also see this clip in Werner Herzog's "My Best Fiend", a 1999 docu on Kinsky http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0200849/
The Unreal Sounds of Underwater Seal Calls from Antarctica
They study seals, that's why they:
1- are there
2- know those are seal calls
Why are they lying on the ground? Werner Herzog is awesome and thought it would make a great visual to accompany the sound.
Although if I were living out there, I'd probably be doing that same thing all the time.

Obi-Wan is back and now fighting for the seal rebellion.
Also why would they get down on the ice like that instead of just recording it or using microphones to amplify it? Are they all stoned? Cause it sorta looks like they are.
How do they know that all those sounds are from the seals and not weird ice grinding or pressure sounds? And what are they doing there? It looks like they are staying in some weird tyvek space tent.
Deranged Penguin Heads Toward Certain Death
the most wonderful thing about this clip is that herzog emphatically insists at the start of the film that he will not film anything involving penguins.
a penguin with that much determination shall not be deterred.
'even dwarfs started small' has still left scars on me.
