Getting High On Krystle

spoco2 says...

Bloody hell Hamilton is creepy. His emo laden wording of things, his near god worshipping of her, his bizarre looks towards her.

'Premier exotic dance establishments'? Really, you're going to try to make it sound classy? It's a strip club for fuck's sake.

When she's asked how much she'd been exposed to drugs prior to the whole bunker thing, and says, virtually nothing... 'just pot, meth and cocain'... in who's world is that virtually nothing?

[edit]

Wow, and the beginning of the accompanying article is such dribble:
"There is no facile synthesis of the events that transpired at the Wamego missile silo between October 1 and November 4, 2000. The available information is a viscous solution of truths, half-lies, three-quarter truths, and outright lies, the fractionation of which yields no pure product. "

Russia Today: Creationists Want to Put God Back in Classroom

Lawdeedaw says...

True about his what he has learned. It seems this particular guy wants to maintain his own superiority over others, and is out to gain whatever it is that he can. You can definately lie and believe, as you prove.

@HHpqp Now to break things up, here is the answer to lie versus belief. Belief's are based on emotions, lies on personal gain. Like me--I own a big car. I can sell you this great product--pay me. I am morally superior to you--because I believe in a higher power.
I believe God created the Earth--because without God, could we govern ourselves? I believe my mother loves me--because how lonely would I be if I knew she did not? I think most of humanity is good on the inside--though I have proof otherwise...
This pastor-ish man, he is a man steeped in half belief and half lies.

Good point. Considering that this person presumably studied biology, however, his eventual teaching of creationism (which is contrary to the evidence) would be a clear case of
lying to propagate his beliefs.

Devastating 'Message to Sarah Palin' Ad

NetRunner says...

^ Yeah, it's sad to see a 3rd party Democratic ad telling a half-truth like that.

It's so unfair, after all we only have millions of dollars being spent by the McCain campaign and RNC directly stating that Obama wants to raise taxes on everyone over $42,000, and implying that Obama is a socialist for wanting to do a middle class tax cut.

But hey, since a 3rd party Dem group with scarce resources told a half lie, it's totally the same as McCain's ads that tell 4 lies at once blared 24/7 by the main campaign.

Milton Friedman on Greed

SDGundamX says...

Yep, and because they are half lies even harder to downplay. Friedman was a smart SOB. I am just hoping someone out there comes with a better idea then capitalism soon.

Even if someone did, there's no guarantee that it would be implemented. The current status quo would put up a helluva fight, and considering they control the money (and hence the guns), I wouldn't want to bet on the newcomer.

The problem I've always had with economics is that traditional capitalist economic theories tend to have at their core the assumption that consumers act rationally and in doing so maximize not only their own benefits but the benefits of the market as a whole. It allows economists to neatly sidestep issues such as greed. Clearly if you remove that one assumption (and I personally think it should be removed) a lot of theory gets thrown out the window and a bit of the ugliness behind the genteel mask of "utility" gets revealed.
