SPOILERS FOR THE LOVE OF GOD( OF WAR), SPOILERS!!!

I had to stop watching after the first two minutes because who knows what else he would spoil for me. That being said, he sounds a bit under the weather.

Yes. Let's have more regurgitated bullshit. These big corporations hardly every create anything new...they just buy some company that has a cool idea and run it into the ground with 8 sequels while charging every moron $15 for DLC "extras" that were really just things stripped from the original game.

Yes. Wave hello Call of Duty, Total Annihilation (Supreme Commander), Command & Conquer, Medal of Honor, Need for Speed, Rock Band, Guitar Hero, Wolfenstein, Tony Hawk, blah blah fucking blah.

Sequels are one thing. Giving people more of what they want is fine. It's the stripping of features, massive "reboots", etc, that I have a problem with. If you change the game enough that it isn't much like the original, fuck you, do not use the name again.

If they reboot the Mechwarrior series and do a good job, awesome. If a "reboot" game is a lot like the original but updated for new technology, great. But, if all your new shooter has in common with the original game is that it's a shooter created by a studio that still employs the janitor that was cleaning the toilets when the original was made, call it something else. All of you know God of War IV or Call of Duty 8...THOUSAND will be a giant pile of crap.

Don't give in. Open your eyes. Buy something else.

He makes a solid case for why even the Sony people are saying this will be the last God of War game that focuses on Kratos' story.

I think Yahtzee missed something that was my main thought after I'd finished the third one -- it's awfully hard to think of any figures in Greek mythology that average people would recognize that Kratos hasn't killed at this point.

They say they're going to make more God of War, but they are going to have to come up with a creative way to reboot the series.

@Xax, buy yourself a PS3 slim, God of War 3, and Uncharted 2. Once you're done with those two games, buying the PS3 will seem like a damn smart idea, especially if you don't already have a bluray player.

Then you can do things like try Heavy Rain, Metal Gear Solid 4, Infamous, Ratchet & Clank Future, Resistance 2, and Gran Turismo 5 when it finally comes out.

Oh yeah, and Killzone 2, if you're into that sort of thing.

Too bad Sony's God damned leap year bug caused me to lose every Trophy I had earned in Heavy Rain. 8 Hours or so down the drain. Otherwise I dig it too, but that really put a damper on it. Ah well, I'll get back to it after I get through God of War III.

money, power, territory, control (and the backlash of those oppressed by power and control) are the CAUSES of war. religion is simply the motivator. and the means used to manipulate underlings into fighting the wars.
religion= a means for control. power is the ends, money is power and territory is money.

So? Religion is as much an instigator as anything else. You can make steps back and find a cause for most things as something more basic. Two opposed religions can easily be the sole reason for a war, but there are often many factors as you yourself point out: power, territory, money. My point was that religion is one of the causes for war, "a cause" instead of "the cause". And what point are you really trying to make? That religion should be left alone because it's just caught in the middle? That's stupid.

Usually the people in power are not stupid enough to be die-hard believers and indeed are after power instead of "doing the will of God", but wars are not only fought by those people, they are fought by all the uninformed masses who march on believing the have god on their side, "fighting the good fight", in their heads the religion is as much a cause for the war as anything else. This is something the we should actively try to destroy. If they don't believe they are right no matter what, then wars can be avoided.

Like westy says, religion can be used to justify atrocities easily, and have been many times already. Removing it from the equation certainly wouldn't hurt.

Any gamers in the crowd? (Blog Entry by JiggaJonson)

NetRunner says...

I followed a similar path to JiggaJohnson, had a 2600, NES, SNES. After that I mostly ignored consoles, preferring PC games.

That lasted for a long time, until the buzz around God of War got so loud even the PC people were saying stuff about it. I bought a PS2, and then got totally sucked into what consoles had morphed into 2 generations past the SNES.

Now I'm back to a more balanced diet of games. Some PC, some console, they've all got great stuff to offer.

If you're a big PC shooter fan, you're depriving yourself by refusing to take Halo or Gears of War for a spin (or at least their latest incarnations). If you liked KOTOR, you need to play Mass Effect. If you liked Diablo, you should play God of War. To think someone would call them self a gamer without having tried Metal Gear Solid and then subsequently declared that they love or hate it with a passion...seems wrong to me. You're missing out if you've never played GTA, especially GTA4.

If anything games for the PC have become something of a niche market, mostly populated with shooters, MMO's, and RTS's (and all the shooters but Crysis are on the consoles too).

I also think anyone who's into gaming should look into Brutal Legend, and seriously consider picking up a 360.
