The New Wave of YouTube "Skeptics"

The quotes in that article really drive home the apotheosis of the word 'cuck'. It's a word whose meaning has died and transcended into some generic status that is completely beyond me - everything and everyone is cucked or cucking or a cuckhole. I gotta stop reading this shit and get a cucking pizza while playing No Man's Cuck...

The other major difference are their fans. I don't recall Sarkeesian ever taking out a personal vendetta against a random person and suggesting her fans bombard their business on Yelp with bad reviews and then people on the doxxing boards of 8chan joined in the online attacks.

We simple-minded Americans; they are all generic "cases" to us...could be a case of beer (cans OR bottles), or edible undies. We use too many words to distinguish. [insert crude joke about a bag of dicks]

Around here a slab would be referring to tinnies (i.e. tin cans), a carton would be referring to bottles.

Does cuck mean anything to shitty people online anymore, or is it just a generic insult they throw everywhere? I mean, someone being cuckolded / fetishizing being cuckolded seems like a hyperspecific descriptor, not a generic bad thing.

I think the point that eric was trying to make is this:

There is something intrinsically wrong in having religion be the thing that is commented on AT ALL when it comes to Arabic people.

I did it myself in my description of the vid -- masked by the generic word "culture."

We don't do that native Americans -- sort out where they fall on a religious spectrum. We don't do that to generic white people. But when it comes to Arabs, the first thing we do is sort out in our minds -- moderate? fundamentalist? do we even consider they could be atheist?

It is a fact that this young woman is NOT a fundamentalist of ANY religion, nor is her encouraging father.

What is sad is that we sort by religion first. And I did it myself.

I think @eric3579 is correct -- we need to push back against instantly falling into any stereotypical thinking, and let people be people just in themselves.

We're human, though. We are going to fall into stereotypes. The trick is to not stay there.

Dragons - Overwatch Animated Short

This is showcasing the New Generic. Blizzard used to push the boundaries for hyper-realism in CG, but everything from designs to animations in this is wrapped tightly in a security-blanket of technical and conceptual cliche.

And if they were reading these back to another dude, especially the ones involving generic violence I bet they would have no trouble looking him in the eye while reading them. They might even joke about it.
I have to wonder if the discomfort comes entirely from the material they are reading or is it also from the realization that they're on camera reading this. And if people decide they are not showing the proper level of shame or guilt then there will be an internet lynch mob waiting for them the next time they log on.

Brand Name vs. Generic

Brand Name vs. Generic

Sycraft says...

The generic food thing is rather silly since often as not there is more than one brand of food and they taste different. At most one of those brands is being used as the store brand which means the rest will taste different. Sometimes it is totally different as well, the store may contract a major company to make it, but still have their own formula.

Basically store-brand food is just another brand and should be treated as such. It can be very tasty, I'm personally a big fan of Safeway's store brand olive oil, but acting like store brand food is the same as brand name is the same as acting like Coke and Pepsi taste the same. No, it's different stuff, buy the stuff you like the best.

Brand Name vs. Generic

Mordhaus says...

That is true now more than ever. Back in the 90's most ingredients in name brand meds were still sourced outside of China. Now most ingredients are sourced from China, so you are taking the same chance of getting something wrong with name vs generic. Sadly, we still only check about 7% of the ingredients shipped in for quality, simply because of the sheer amount and cost that would be involved.

People buying name brand over the counter medication opposed to the generic has always been a huge pet peeve of mine (especially pain relief meds). I always think they are either ignorant of the facts or just easily duped (suckers).

As an example all these 'Excedrins' have exact ingredients in the exact amounts (250mg acetaminophen 250mg aspirin 65mg caffeine) and same number of pills(200)
@Wallmart
Excedrin Extra Strength $23.95
Excedrin Migraine $15.54
Equate(generic excedrin) $4.00

Blows my mind people buy Excedrin or Advil or Tylenol,etc.. and not the generics. Stop being suckers.

Brand Name vs. Generic

Also generic foods shouldn't be lumped together with generic medicines. Ive had lots of generic foods that taste like shit compared to the name brand. Salt is a no brainer and kind of a meh example. Compare Kraft Mac and Cheese with its store generic and see what you think.

With medications its about the active ingredients which are exactly the same. Generic foods and medicines are apples and oranges in my experience and opinion.
