Uncle Roger DISGUSTED by this Egg Fried Rice Vid - BBC Food

newtboy says...

Draining and rinsing the rice AFTER cooking?!? WTF?!
If you don't know how to cook white rice, don't go on tv to teach people how to make fried rice.
You have baby, put msg on baby....maybe not make smarter baby, but more tender.
First my wife leave me, now you scrape pan with metal....hiyaaa. Uncle Roger wanna suicide.

Americans try Canadian snacks for the first time

ALL DRESSED CHIPS ARE NOT BLAND! BLASPHEMY! LIES AND SLANDER!
RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE!

In all seriousness though, Canadian cuisine isn't terribly developed. I think my favourite thing to see though, is a local Chinese food restaurant that has Canadian / Chinese food. I've always wondered what the hell that means, and can only think of Back Bacon Fried rice.

How NOT to train a husky puppy to go "down"

chingalera says...

Doing very well it looks like. Training puppies with treats is faster than with praise alone (taught a 10-week-old border collie bitch 3 tricks in one day with some left-over pork fried-rice!). Its ok to make puppy lie down by gently sliding his legs down from a sitting position while using a one-word command but make sure it completes the prostration before you give him the treat or praise or you'll confuse it.
At the end there it looked exactly like it should for a "roll-over" command. The puppy followed the treat in the hand and rolled completely over! That is a trick I'll bet shep here will learn fast!

Hooray for puppies learning tricks!

Hey, this menu is like Thailand's version of the hamburger - it's by far the most ordered dish in the country. What show is this from and where is it aired?

You know, I do not know the answer. I actually discovered this Thai cooking video on YT. Their website is www.thaifoodtonight.com (saw that in there), so maybe that will help you out.

These ladies are great, what a team. *femme. I make a pretty mean Thai fried rice, but not quite up to these ladies' standards.

One thing I like to do is to use a cereal bowl as a mold, to make nice dome shaped portions on plates, and then put the cucumbers around it - as that's the way I saw it served in Bangkok.

Raw Food : the ultimate diet!

It's hard to stick with it for me.

I've tried it a few times, and it works. I usually feel better, lose weight, and have more energy, but then one day I'll just have to have a hamburger or some pizza or stir-fried rice, and once I've done that, it's hard to settle for just veggies again.

It could have been an honest mistake depending on who the poster was. Don't know about Korea, but in Japan the problem is that the "l" sound in Japanese is a cross between "r" and "l", and there is no distinction for them.

I remember trying to get my students to hear the difference between "fried lice" and "fried rice" they had a hard time.

"I agree with the fellow who mentioned cheap labor. If we suddenly got rid of all illegal labor, you couldn't eat in a restaurant-- a plate of fried rice would cost $12. Face it, a lot of our economy relies on illegal labor."

Of course you are right. That's why the "Day Without Immigrants" demonstration had such a huge economic impact on our country.

Our country is not dependent on illegal labor. Without the illegals, we can just get unemployed, impoverished AMERICAN CITIZENS to do the same jobs that those illegals are doing.

God help us if we start handing out amnesty to all the illegals that come into our country. Our country is already in enough debt as it is. What is going to happen if we have to start making welfare checks out to millions of illegals?

"I just wish you had the fortitude to have stayed in your own country and try to change things there instead of running away from your problems"-- like our forefathers did in England? Come on.

I'm a US citizen. I served 5 years in the Marine Corps. I have a wife and kid. If I was working my tail off just to keep them from starving while my neighbors to the north were enjoying prosperity, and I thought we could do better by emmigrating, even if it meant violating my neighbors' laws, I would do it. I would feel it was my responsibility to take care of my family that way.

"you chose to sneak across the border instead of coming here honestly". I should mention that my wife is not from here. Though we are married, it was not that easy to get her into the country. It cost us plenty of money, and I had to provide a lot of documentation. We managed it, but not everyone is so lucky. If you think some guy from Puebla can fill out a form, pay $50 and get a visa to come work in the US, you're just being naive. It simply is not that easy.

I agree with the fellow who mentioned cheap labor. If we suddenly got rid of all illegal labor, you couldn't eat in a restaurant-- a plate of fried rice would cost $12. Face it, a lot of our economy relies on illegal labor.
