Meet the Pyro - Team Fortress 2

rellik says...

I think it is clear that Valve is not going to make it clear. But it has been hinted too many times that it's not a dude.

The only thing that irks me is we still don't know the Pyro's gender. That being said, HOLY FUCKING KITTEN WISKERS, BATMAN!!! Also, buhbye GMOD, Hello Source Filmmaker?

Meet the Pyro - Team Fortress 2

Tbh, I'm quite glad they left the gender ambigious. The joke is that nobody knows - revealing it wouldn't be much of a punchline.

Think its great that Valve are releasing this software for free AND it seems as though they intend to support it with tutorials and updates. As for the video itself...fucking brilliant as usual.

Expect news later this week from AdultSwim. They announced there was some sort of partnership between Valve and themselves and I think this sourcefilmmaker is probably the connection. Looking forward to seeing what comes of that.

Far Cry 3's First Ingame Multiplayer Footage

The publishers tried that with Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, but they F ed it up realllllly bad and killed the franchise in one fell swoop. So I don't think that'll be happening any time soon.
Besides, there is no need for an overhaul of old Enemy Territory because other games have already surpassed its legacy. Modern Warfare, Call of Duty, Far Cry and Team Fortress 2 have taken Enemy Territory's concept and have surpassed it far and beyond.

Yeah, I didn't like ET:QW.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown first look

jmd says...

Meh... at the gameplay level, this game looks to do NOTHING to improve or make more interesting the old style of turn based strategy. You have a resource that limits your actions per turn, you can move, move shoot.. retreat.. ect. Cover is destructable which is a big thing when almost everyone has range attacks.

So where else could it improve? The graphics! Sure this may be decades ahead of the original, but compared to current day it is VERY VERY WEAK. The game uses a more simplistic style but the only way they could pass with that is if it had an artistic level in character and designed. WoW and Team Fortress offer up some low poly models and maps, but make up for it in a style that is truly their own and works. This... this looks like generic army guy shoots at generic looking alien on generic looking movie set.

@chilaxe

So what you're saying is.. you're a cowardly white privileged bigot who's too afraid to leave the safety of his software & champagne fortress and confront the real problems of the world?

Cause we all know that Silicon Valley has nothing to do with "societal decay".

I mean, sure companies like Apple deny hard-working Americans high-paying jobs/careers in the Technology Sector by exploiting cheap labor in Socialist countries like China. But that's just want any good cold and calculating capitalist would do.

OH OH! I got the perfect bumper sticker for you "I Hate Socialism.. but I Loove my Ipad. Vote Yes on Apples for Americans"

Then you could pass around a petition demanding that Apple build a new factory in Oakland.

You know, to stop all the societal decay and give those dirty niggers and spics something to do with their lives.

Why don't you fuckin' move then.
Oh wait, then you couldn't complain about how shitty your life is under this oppressive Marxist regime.

I live in Silicon Valley, so I'm insulated from the societal decay.

I hardly ever interact with people who aren't techies, so the only way I know that California's been turned into the dumbest state in the country is from the news.

SC2: Cheese Fail

Psychologic says...

One thing Champs could have done to extend the game once the Command Center landed in his base would be to cancel all buildings in his base and make a Nexus at the minerals near his earlier cannons, then transfer workers the moment the Planetary Fortress in his base finished its conversion.

Champs would be behind on economy, but Ketroc didn't have any army units so he wouldn't be able to stop the Nexus. Then Champs could build cannons to attack Ketroc's gas geysers and some mineral patches (just outside the range of the Planetary Fortress).

From there he could tech to Voidrays or Colossi and possibly win the game, but it would be an uphill battle.

>> ^RFlagg:

...okay so once again for those of us who don't know SC2 (I have it, but I suck at it and generally don't get past the tutorials). Why couldn't Champs simply move forces down to his base and attack the guy who put his base next to his? Why rage quit so soon?

Because he only had a few units, all of which would die if they attacked either Planetary Fortress. He wasted all his money on cannons, which can't move. Ketroc's workers could also repair the Planetary Fortresses faster than Champs could damage them with so few units.

The one Ketroc put in the western base was in range of the workers and could kill multiple in one shot, so Champs wouldn't be able to mine resources to make more units. Once it landed he was pretty much screwed.

Team Fortress 2 art style meets Left 4 Dead.

The originality is just mind shattering

And TF2 itself was a rip/homage to the Pixar movie The Incredibles.

"The final rendition sports cartoon style visuals influenced by the art of J. C. Leyendecker, Dean Cornwell and Norman Rockwell[8] and is powered by the Source engine."
