Now the far right’s war against education expands, with book banning, CRT banning (even though they don’t know what that is), banning any references to gender, blaming teachers for their children being able to think for themselves, for “indoctrination” (into what?), turning them trans, etc…. Just pure insanity one has to go through point by point proving every statement 100% wrong before you assholes admit you’re just exaggerating for effect….then you start all over the next time as if you didn’t just admit you’re liars.

Today, in Tennessee, The Diary of Anne Frank is banned…for containing CRT. Hilariously, so is the Bible (which should already be banned as indoctrination into cults is not supposed to be allowed in public schools). Even the golden rule, “treat others as you would have them treat you” is CRT….imagine, saying you should treat “inner city thugs”, immigrants, and poor people like you think they should treat upstanding white folk….disgusting CRT! 🤦‍♂️

The red states like Florida and Texas that started this war on education already have massive teacher shortages and the teachers left are packing to leave.
It’s going to be funny when red states have to beg states like California for some competent educated workers because they have no education system left. They won’t get them. Educated people don’t want to live where they do this.

Uh-oh!

first: take the 'example' w/a grain of salt. many folks of all ilks would be in the same waters.

second: the knowing sigh speaks volumes 'tho. 'cause there are forty years (that I know of) of bad stuff if one looks. I'd be overwhelmed too...but certainly not speechless.

third: the 'sheep' thing could be used as a defense but just read all the comments here! they appear to be thought out and varied. step into a 'red' conversation is like walking into a shop full of parrots. *AWK! AWK!*

fourth: if you believe the 'blue' is programmed - then why are the 'reds' tardy in their opinions when unexpected events happen? when this FBI bust went down, even Fox was befuddled - and many other times too.

five: I put forth the theory that the 'red' can't speak for themselves because it's foreign to them. (see above)

six: when it was Hillary w/less - it mattered. now that it's Upset Catsup w/top secrets, leading a coup, etc, etc, etc (see other comments) - it's just opinions. right?

the cultism is real and in your neck of the woods.

but for me, the first thing that made me anti-orange was him and the USFL. forty years ago!

'indoctrination'?

you were told that. you believed. you speak it. 🦜AWK!

AND THE LIES!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW: credible news (or reality) that one fears, dislikes, or is disillusioning isn't a choice. one doesn't get to say the dam didn't break when the town is flooded and the dead are floating by. ones that do...well...

yeah...it's the situation where a person doesn't burn down the house to get to the cockroaches...unless the house is condemned...and there are fire folks at the ready...and the vegetation isn't too dry...damn it...just want some sense when lives are in the balance.

where it'd be like shooting into a crowd to get a perp. akin to the recent event - where cops shot into a crowd to get a perp!

newtboy said:

I think that’s totally wrong….
For instance, stopping the murder of George Floyd was worth another crime of assaulting (or killing) a police officer. Avenging that murder was worth another crime against police….it still is. All 4 deserve to be killed with their offspring. No vendetta for them.

Police staging/preparing to shoot up another house also is worth another crime of deadly defense against the murderous gang members.
There are many crimes cops commit that are worth killing or disabling them…daily. They aren’t worthy of consideration and their lives are worthless so long as they cover for their criminal gang.

Conversely (and I think this is what you were saying), there is no crime a citizen committed in the past that excuses police committing murder…including murder. There’s no crime ever that excuses police shooting innocent bystanders, which they often do. As authorities, they have a much higher duty. As a murderous criminal gang, their lives have much lower value than real humans.

Smoke Shop Robbery, Las Vegas - Robber Stabbed

luxintenebris jokingly says...

get the drift...sort like those folks who said wearing a cross is a bit like wearing a noose/electric chair/syringe pin or blind-folded man w/cigarette button.

rather it be the fish, dove, flame, lamb, star, or Chi-Rho. If one wanted to prompt angst in a fellow 'Christian' - a rainbow.

what is sorta cool is that minuscule sect of Christians that believe JC slipped and died in the shower. they use bathtub icons.

also kinda hard on boy scouts. the flag patch comes w/the uniform. tried to add some 'hip' to the shirt but the black flag patch wasn't appreciated.

do have veterans in the family, 7 yr - 33 yr, so am okay w/their lapel pins (et al).

newtboy said:

Whenever I see this I instantly KNOW these are hypocritical people with “do as I say, not as I do” mentalities. Like those who drape themselves in the flag, it’s proof positive they don’t believe in or respect the religion, they only want to use their faux love for Christianity (or a country) as a club against those they dislike.

The Bible says clearly and unambiguously to never worship idols.

"Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth."
The cross is an idol, a graven image of an execution device. Definitely a thing that is “in the earth”. Any Christian that wears (or even worships) the cross is violating their own religion in an effort to wear it on their sleeve as a badge of honor and/or shield.

Same goes for flags, wearing one as clothing is seriously disrespectful to the flag and the nation for which it stands….especially when it’s done to show how much more patriotic they are…it proves the exact opposite. People wear flag underwear to show their patriotism while literally wiping their ass with it and farting on it all day as they sit on the flag….real patriotic!

I don’t understand people who do that, it’s clear to me that those who wrap themselves in religion or patriotism really have neither.

"A Fourth Car Absolutely Buggered!" - Deadly Mexican Street

Lived near an intersection where one got used to hearing auto crashes. Whenever it sounded like someone dropping a refrigerator off the back of a truck - it was time to call 911.

Know of a house in CA that was hit 7 or 8 times because of the road design. Took years for homeowners to get the officials to improve it.

cut'n'paste link: https://www.google.com/maps/place/7416+Sonora+Ln,+Highland,+CA+92346/@34.1190144,-117.1469675,3a,75y,100.67h,88.23t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sX-h_b08ZKiuka1

it'd be the home to the right of the 'turnaround' area behind the rock (which might have been the homeowners' first solution to the problem - a few deaths just might get officials to take it seriously). Also if you zoom in on the north side of the house, there is a patio doorway. That's the area where it got hit last. Maybe it was easier than fixing the wall?

the high traffic street use to just slope off into a residential street. some folks didn't know the road ended despite some signage. most just travel not knowing it ended couldn't stop in time or missed the turn at high speed.

Tesla BLOWS AWAY Expectations. (Q2 2022 Recap )

luxintenebris says...

please. communist?

think about this: one of the cons of communism is if one person is getting all the benefits of working as not working - incentive is nixed.

w/all the mergers of segments of the business world - oil, media suppliers, etc - the effect mirrors communism. w/o serious competition, these companies have less incentive to improve products, increase efficiency, or reduce consumer costs.

to wit: most of the conservative policies are closer to communism than ideas like trust-busting, fair employee compensation, reasonable taxation for high earners, etc.

most of the 'progressive' ideas would spur capitalism, thus the blue is more about the green than the red is about keeping markets stable and healthy.

prefer the idea of regulated capitalism over death through fascism.

what led to '08?

anyway...if you're money is on Tesla*, good luck. good to see a body putting their money where their mouth is. and great to see you in favor of moving away from fossil fuels. investing in the future.

if we can get there.

FYI: interesting article about the marketing of tesla
https://melmagazine.com/en-us/story/tesla-masculinity-study?utm_source=digg
from the skinny on the CEO, it is an absolute match.

BTW: keeping up w/the Jan 6 spankings? hard to buy the love of a loon, versus the safety of a nation. shakes a person to the core. all those serene conservatives w/o one iota of spine. if this is your idea of quality leadership - no Tesla stock is gonna fill the void of losing a homeland

The origins of oil falsely defined in 1892

bcglorf says...

This is one of those cons that's so bad it actually helps it's own spread.

His entire premise depends on folks buying in that 'Science" was duped into a bad 'definition' for the origins of oil at some committee meeting. You have to accept that for the next 100 years, the entire scientific community was powerlessly bound by this committee decision.

The reason that's so effective is the same as the scam emails rife with typos and bad grammar. He immediately is limiting his audience after that point to folks who didn't nope out already at that point. Targeted marketing at any audience vulnerable to whatever snake oil pitch he's ultimately selling.

12 yr. old Palestinian MC Abdul "Shouting At The Wall"

bcglorf says...

@newtboy,

There's a danger here of having an actual nuanced discussion on Israel/Palestine happening here if we aren't careful...

I agree with your point of difference on illegal immigrants in the US largely not having a plan for 'independence' in their back pocket. The soft equivalence that the right wingers would point to though would be immigrant settling into small area such that they can setup a virtual community without ever needing to learn local languages and pushing hard to keep their 'own' values and way of life. I don't agree with the "Learn English" rednecks or the ones shouting how folks need to act American, but there is at least a soft parallel. virtually the only thing South Park has ever been censored on was depicting the prophet, and that 100% read as fear of violent retaliation, which isn't nothing.

I also think you hit the bigger point on how broken systems of immigration are. Particularly when domestic politics and the situation for legal immigration to refugees is grossly inadequate. I think America today though is just a much more mild example of it than the 30/40s in Palestine. For all the complaints one can level at Zionism, it's very hard to condemn them for encouraging mass emigration out of Europe. It's also clear that waiting on legal immigration routes out wasn't going to get people out fast enough. Thus I really look carefully at any anti-zionist position that includes condemning jewish 'illegal' immigration at the time. It treads dangerously close to saying they should have accepted the alternative, which was by and large remaining in Europe...

President Biden responses beautifully

luxintenebris jokingly says...

sweet jeezus ivan, the question WAS about musk's (and diamond's) 'super bad feeling' about the economy.

the president answered w/direct examples of other companies' investments in the FUTURE of the economy.

it isn't mental acuity or citizenship causing the problem on this end.

and brain aneurysms? sources? it makes little sense to ask others to search for proof if you've already found it. speed things up a bit. right? [would think a person would be in a hurry to prove someone else wrong.]

BTW: ever notice how folks on the lower spectrum of intelligence are more drawn to supremacy movements?

the same phenomenon happens w/people who like to use words like 'moron'.

Anom212325 said:

The question was about musk's comment in regards to the US economy... Not about one of musk's companies.

is that a reference to the previous senile president you morons chose ?

GOP Handmaid’s Tale

luxintenebris says...

“The unborn” are a convenient group of people to advocate for. They never make demands of you; they are morally uncomplicated, unlike the incarcerated, addicted, or the chronically poor; they don’t resent your condescension or complain that you are not politically correct; unlike widows, they don’t ask you to question patriarchy; unlike orphans, they don’t need money, education, or childcare; unlike aliens, they don’t bring all that racial, cultural, and religious baggage that you dislike; they allow you to feel good about yourself without any work at creating or maintaining relationships; and when they are born, you can forget about them, because they cease to be unborn. It’s almost as if, by being born, they have died to you. You can love the unborn and advocate for them without substantially challenging your own wealth, power, or privilege, without re-imagining social structures, apologizing, or making reparations to anyone. They are, in short, the perfect people to love if you want to claim you love Jesus but actually dislike people who breathe.

Prisoners? Immigrants? The sick? The poor? Widows? Orphans? All the groups that are specifically mentioned in the Bible? They all get thrown under the bus for the unborn."

spins my gourd that folks are SO EASILY misled by these fairy tales of teachers indoctrinating kids (yet, they can't get them to sit still, stop talking, or return materials on time); fears of giving citizens PSTD with known history (but explaining why 'person. woman. man. camera. tv' is NOT unsettling); or libraries can't be trusted to be run by librarians but the by the government (what were Ben Franklin and Andrew Carnegie thinking?)

Missouri tries to legislate reality away

bcglorf says...

@newtboy,

Per my very first sentence in thread, I also oppose gov using this as a wedge issue to rally their base.

Meaning, I 100% am in agreement that nobody(gov or otherwise) should be banning trans kids(and adults) from anything, competitive sports included.

I did point out a single biological fact:
-Whether a person is born with XX or XY chromosomes has a significant impact on development that impacts performance in sports.

You jump all over that observation though, like raising it is hateful, denying peoples right to exist, and on. It is not.

And your observation that the performance advantages aren’t 100% of the time favouring XY folks is the red herring. Of course there are areas were the difference is an advantage, others were it’s neutral, and yet others a disadvantage. In a large population you also always have the possibility of individuals overcoming those odds.

Pointing to those facts though like they mean specific advantages don’t exist is the red herring.

In addition to that one fact, I also proposed applying the same standards for fairness in competition equally to everyone.

And it’s on this point I am automatically decried as hateful, evil and maliciously acting against people’s right to exist….

If your only looking for a villain to demonize there’s no point attempting further discussion.
