Godzilla vs. Gigan Rex

cloudballoon says...

The visuals would be trashed by a video gamer players if this is served as an in-game footage in 2022 on PC/consoles. I feel only Gozilla's rendering and movements felt natural. Everything else is pretty bad and unexciting. The city... I think even Microsft Flight Simulator got better models and more "lived-in" than this. Need more realistic filters and more sirens/screaming BGN at the minimum.

The Most Costly Joke in History

newtboy says...

You said...."1. Nobody can say for certain what the F-35 is capable of or not capable of." then went on to write tomes and tomes about what's it's capable of, most of which has been contradicted by the testing, but you would rather believe what some test pilot said it may be able to do some day in the future if they fix all the problems or what your flight simulator games represented. HA!!!! Good one.

There's a HUGE difference between random vegan's self serving idea of what is and what is not good nutrition and factual historical data about the existence or non-existence of dogfighting since WW1. The cracked.com was simply a follow up entertainment article delineating 5 notable dogfights since WW1.

Smell ya later.

transmorpher said:

I repeatedly said that it doesn't have to be as good as a dogfighter as the F-16. And I even explain what would happen if it for some odd reason did get into a dog fight.

You've got some very good selective reading. Because when I linked you heaps of peer reviewed scientific articles about nutritional research, you come back with "I don't read internet science".
And then you proceed to link an article from cracked.com which is infotainment when being generous, and the article contains not a single reference.

Good day to you sir.

7 Absurd Uses of DLC that Will Make Your Blood Boil

AeroMechanical says...

I dunno that there is anything wrong with the train simulator DLC. I'm not personally familiar with it but I think that's comparable to the "DLC" for Flight Simulator X, which if you bought all of it would probably easily be in the tens of thousands of dollars. It's all extra content made by third parties though. That's really the way DLC is supposed to work. It doesn't necessarily have to be created by third parties, but does have to be *new* additional content.

Starting up a Boeing 737---Airplane Geek nirvana

LiquidDrift says...

Wasn't it a Korean crew that crashed a 737 at San Francisco? Maybe they need less StarCraft, more Flight Simulator.

SFOGuy said:

That's genuinely funny. I was also thinking that a Korean StarCraft player might be able to complete the entire sequence, in, oh, I dunno, 12 seconds at thousands of APM? (assuming you didn't actually wait for the generators and engines to start etc etc etc)

The Evolution of MechWarrior: 1989 - 2012

Repomancer says...

It warms the cockles of my black heart to see that people still remember Mech 2 fondly. The tale of its creation is long and bizarre; I may finish writing it down (if I get off my butt someday); it got weird beyond belief before it was all done.

It was accused in the press of feeling like a flight simulator, which is funny because that's what it was. I re-used the overall software design from a (real) flight simulator I wrote for my previous aerospace-type job.

Activision was huge fun when it was tiny. My license plate still reads MECH2.

Thanks, all.

My brother, a hobby pilot, used to do landings like this time after time in MS Flight Simulator X. They've good for testing your navigation skills and using the instruments. I tried a few too, I found VFR flying in real to be much easier than IFR in FSX.

That is not unlike real life. Looking out of window at 20k at 400 miles per hour isn't exactly telling at times, even without cloud cover. Only on an approach you have done dozens of times in the same conditions will the "look" of a particular landing be helpful. This isn't unlike most areas of life, things you don't do often, how they look isn't very useful, now a checklist...that is useful no matter how many times! This is why all aspects of planes and checklist based. For any given day you might be on several different planes on a large variety of different airports. That isn't always the case, many times they get similar kinds of routes over and over with the same equipment, but that does change from time to time.
