Pardon my cynicism, I love dogs and I donate to many dog training programs like this. But having said that, this looks like it was done for the camera, instead of the camera just being at the right place at the right time, which bugs me.

It also bugs me that "Aspergers" is stamped all over every other story you read now. Now Jerry Seinfeld and David Byrne and apparently half the offspring of half of my coworkers have a "touch of Aspergers" or are on the "autism spectrum". It's like a freaking designer diagnosis now.

And there's no shortage of news stories about someone who was the victim of road-rage or excessive police force who "suffered from Aspergers" and probably didn't understand the situation. Apparently calling them an "honor student" doesn't generate enough pathos anymore.

I'm sure I'll be misunderstood but I have nothing but empathy for this person in the video and all those that GENUINELY suffer from this.

CNN.com posts anything on their site to get attention. They've become on par with the annoying facebook friend that posts anything and everything to get attention. Recently their front page article was focused on yahoo's new work policy and why its supposedly good/bad. Pulling up some of their "featured" stories include the following:

Dog trained to do house chores
A video about a reporter saying "it sucks here"
3 videos about the latest YT fad "harlem shake" with its own subsection
"Why we love Jennifer Lawrence"
New twist for teen who flipped off judge

Some of this stuff is great if your bored or on the sift, but newsworthy it is not.

And for a more direct answer to what you were saying, yeah thats all entertainment news right there, "OMG, Seth Mc.... said so and so, how does the other party react? YOU DONT KNOW!?!?! Well shit, make something up that sounds profound and post it". Its like a social gathering, except the viewers don't actually socialize with the involved parties.

The other problem here is even if the dog lives long term it is going to have major behavior problems with an idiot owner like that. She is praising the dogs nervous behavior after it recovers so it will likely become very neurotic.

Second off, how the hell is she rewarding nervous behaviour? The dog is scared, it experienced a trauma, she is cuddling the dog. Best bet is to remain calm so that the dog knows that everything is ok, but that's pretty hard given the situation.

Take it from someone with experience - the only thing she did wrong was panic, and i'd have done the same wrong if any of my dogs collapsed.
