Dick Cavett Interview - Janis Joplin

No, I loved Johnny. His successor - not so much.>> ^PlayhousePals:

Great stuff. The world would be a better place if Dick Cavett replaced Johnny Carson.
Sigh, if only ... though Johnny had his moments =o)

Thank you so much for the promote! She was quite an interesting and tragic character. I was lucky enough to see her perform before her passing.
Super Moonwalker also does back flips. In his wheelie shoes.
I made an obscure joke. Tried to fix it with the subject description.
First rule of comedy -- if you have to explain the joke, it ain't funny.
@Bloodscourge, I'm going to leave the title as is, because it amuses me how badly my "joke" worked.
Reminds me of Dick Cavett's memoir from years ago. He tells the story of one of Johnny Carson's writers coming up with the following joke:
"It was really cold in New York City today."
{cue for the audience to shout -- how cold was it?}
"It was so cold, Mayor Lindsay had to wear buckles on his shoes."
Great resounding thud in the writer's room. Huh? "You know, the Puritans wore buckles on their shoes, and the Indians had to come save them from the horrible winter."
If you have to explain it, it ain't funny.
But all this talk of how unfunny my joke is begins to amuse me deeply.

I hate when these TV people sneak in a "very quickly..." at the beginning of a "question"...
I miss Dick Cavett.
Orson Welles turns the tables on Dick Cavett

He reminds me a little of Hedonism Bot.>> ^westy:
Orson Welles seems to have an ego the size of a barn yard , and he is to comanding for my taste.
i mean at least he has achived allot so he is nowhere near as bad as people with huge ego that dont have annything to back it up , but at the same time i realy dislike people with large ego.
A Piano Lesson With Oscar Peterson

I wish there were still shows like Dick Cavett's on the air. Something in between the sombriety of Charlie Rose and sugary dreck of Jay Leno.
Also, check out this other fantastic Dick Cavett Sift where he interviews Orson Wells.

David Bowie interviewed by Dick Cavett (1974)
does anyone else find this dick cavett quite condescending?
Norman Mailer vs Gore Vidal, Old Lady and Dick Cavett
Norman Mailer seems like an intensely pompous ass, who I wouldn't want to be in the same room with. Compare with http://www.videosift.com/video/Orson-Welles-turns-the-tables-on-Dick-Cavett who's just delightful compared to Norman. Probably quite a bit "intellectually greater" too.
Norman Mailer vs Gore Vidal, Old Lady and Dick Cavett
"Perhaps you'd like two more chairs to contain your intellect."
