What If You Didn't Sleep For A Week? ft. TheOdd1sOut

00Scud00 says...

I don't know about the loss of sleep being an anti depressant, lack of sleep usually makes my depression much worse. I guess I must be the other half of that group.

Well, yeah, that's pretty depressing too.

To me, the really depressing thing is this was just one of dozens if not hundreds of similarly decrepit dams ready to fall apart. We got incredibly lucky with this one, I expect we probably won't stay lucky for long and one will fail in our next really wet rainy season....disastrously.

I haven't watched it yet, but plan to. I'm subscribed to his channel, he has a lot of good stuff.

The interesting thing about the failure is that there wasn't just one cause, but as is often the case a whole bunch of things that conspired to cause it.

The depressing thing about it is that the authorities had been warned about it for over 10 years before the failure, but ignored the warnings

Whitehouse Admits Tax Plan Saves Trump,Tens Of Millions Year

newtboy says...

Research better...$7.5 Trillion+- not $10, and mostly due to lost revenue and excess spending from the Republican caused depression. (Caused by lax and removed bank regulations, then bail outs by Bush with federal funds). Also, let's not forget the Iraq war, kept off the books by Bush, then added to Obama's deficit numbers.

Where was I? Here, stating it's ridiculous to raise the military budget by $100 Billion/year (what Republicans call a huge cut to the military) when our economy is tanked.

By percentage, republicans have consistently raised the deficit/debt more than Democrats, who actually lowered it under Clinton. Reagan was by far the worst.

"and every American citizen because it bankrupts the nation" ? Where were you the last POTUS / house /senate added 10 Trillion of actual debt added.

Dear Satan

newtboy says...

There is no evidence whatsoever that he lived again, and barely anecdotal evidence that his body went missing.
You vastly overestimate the theories acceptance outside devout religious theological scholars.
It's not all nonsense, just the magic parts.

History. Constantine converted and compiled the bible to consolidate and grow his political powers.

Satan wrote and fulfilled the bible and prophecies to trick you, just like every other religion. See how that falls apart?

Verified "truth" is a fact demonstrable in the physical world.
I don't buy into isms.

No, they were clearly instructions to individuals, not government...please. Even accepting your view, it's still killing, so no one could carry out the governmental stoning imperative...catch 22, you defy god either way.

But, since I don't believe, I don't accept or reject him.

Ahhh, so he didn't die for the world, only his supporters, you say, with non supporters (mostly tricked thorough no fault of their own) getting eternal torture. Diabolical, monstrous in fact.

Only like cancer that only exists when you believe it does.

I do those things for myself, it's working fine and I take responsibility for myself. I would suggest if Jesus worked as you say, to perfection, no Christian would ever be depressed or do wrong, they would be perfect people without problems....1)what about when you/they don't behave perfectly, is Jesus busy?

If there was zero law enforcement on earth and no vigilantes, it would be like that.

A sign, like the cardboard sign the driver's holding? Yep.

I might get in the car out of curiosity, but wouldn't just accept that coincidence or mental implantation means divinity. I would think it's likely I'm being visited by ET, who would be easily mistaken for gods by believers.

2)Again, I must ask, if you know he has that power of personal revelation, but chose to not use it, why would you defy your own God's wishes to try to convert others? Maybe he needs us heathens to be heathens.

1) The resurrection is absolutely not historical. Jesus the man MIGHT be.

There is a lot of scholarly research that says it is historical,

Cop Who Shot Walter Scott Pleads Guilty, Gets 20 Years

newtboy says...

It's only not murder because plea deals usually involve lesser charges that a conviction could.
The DA was going to try him again for murder and murder 2, but accepted this deal with the feds to avoid another possibly hung jury or even acquittal. That's how plea deals work.
I found it amazing he willingly took a 20 year sentence considering how cops usually fare in courts, I only wish it was in State prison gen pop instead of club fed's special unit.

I fully agree that the expectations for justice against bad cops are depressingly low, and I agree this outcome was far better than the average yet still not fully justice.

If it looks like a murder, if its sentenced like a murder...why isn't it murder?

Gotta agree that this stinks of "separate but equal".

Good that the outcome was better than expected, bad that the expectation is so low.

Republican Tax Scam Is Handwritten Nonsense

newtboy says...

2 years....during which he reversed the Republican engineered depression.
There's this thing called Google. When you want to post a fact without being called a know nothing ignoramus, try looking there first to see just how wrong you are before proving it.

Moore's (mostly Republican) accusers all waited too long. It's no surprise that children kept quiet when threatened by a DA/judge, though. He won't see court unless there's a provable continuing cover-up or recent victims.
Your president is not so fortunate, his 20+ accusers will have their day in court....not that his guilt would change your mind about anything, nothing could.
"Facts are for liberals".

Funny you don't even notice that your position is Republicans are all innocent victims of liars even with clear and solid evidence against them and Democrats are all guilty of more than they're accused of by Project Veritas until (or even after) they're proven innocent, no evidence required....almost like facts don't matter.....

bobknight33 said:

Dems had 8 years to do tax reform and did nothing.

Roy Moore?? We will see when his accusers have their day in court. Till then Roy is innocent.
Your side (Dems) are not so fortunate. The Democrat / Liberal list grows by the day. The party of debauchery.

Dystopian Fiction: How Reading Transforms Your Mind

cloudballoon says...

TL;DW! I jest, I jest! I remember I used to read metric (yes, METRIC) tons of books during my formative years. Novels, fiction, non-fiction, comics... I read Times & Maclean's (Canadian equivalent of Times) magazines front-to-back... like over 90% of all articles every week. But high-speed internet & smartphone happened then I don't read prints very much anymore. Still read/watch news too much though, but it's now more depressing than educational with the stuff I read online. The journalistic standard is way down.
Much harder to find really enlightening long-form reporting these days.

The Game that is pissing off the Alt Right

Jim Jefferies : Drugs: Fun, But Not Always

Mordhaus says...

I would love to be able to get medical marijuana easily in Texas. But the bill they passed in 2015 had so many restrictions it is laughable.

You can only get it if you get low-thc oil. You can only be prescribed it for epilepsy and only then if you haven't responded to federally approved treatments. Assuming you meet those guidelines, you need two different doctors that must be registered with the DPS to both agree that no other medication will help you.

Not bad enough? The state has dragged its feet on actually licensing companies to grow cannabis to make the oil, so that 2 years after the bill was signed a couple of companies are just now able to ramp up production. Then they will need time to convert the product to oil and THEN the state will take some more time to make sure the product 'meets specifications'.

This stupid thing is you can already get low-thc oil on the internet legally that is roughly the same strength. Plus it restricts the most active compound, THC, so it limits drastically who will actually gain any benefit from it.

Since I suffer from two different ailments, both which have been shown to be helped by actual cannabis instead of the oil, I am SOL. I have to take a huge dose of Cymbalta and become zombie-like for a good part of the day, or I can suffer crippling anxiety/depression/fibromyalgia pain. The other fun thing is that the Cymbalta exacerbates my IBS, the other ailment I have that cannabis has been shown to help.

I could cut out a drug with horrible side effects and take a natural drug that could help every single symptom I have, with the only side effects being paranoia and the munchies. But then the pharma company would miss out on the roughly one grand a month that my pills cost my insurance. Can't have that!

PS: That price is for generic Cymbalta now that it is available. Originally it was closer to 2k a month for name brand. Another fun side effect? Cymbalta also fucks up your sex drive, sometimes making you impotent but more frequently making it nigh impossible to orgasm. So you can get erect as a male, but good luck finishing.
