Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. I truly appreciate it.

Totally reasonable question. I hate the aloofness and pomposity of the whole thing. Which regularly turns out to be a pretty flacid attempt at 'slamming' anything. I hate the term "slam poetry" too. There's something about that combination of words and what it refers to that makes me feel violent towards inanimate objects.

There's also something about the type of person that is drawn to write/perform "slam poetry" that turn my stomach. All of them i've seen so far remind me of the little skinny people that study philosophy and cultivate whispy little beards and put rediculous looking berets on their heads, and aim to talk over the heads of anyone that doesn't look, think and dress like they do.

People like darius daneche(sp) from the first series of pop idol (uk).

I'd rate it as one of the lowest forms of wit.

What is it about slam poetry you dislike so much? I'm just curious.

Fuck slam poetry.

Sift and Tell (Talks Talk Post)

Thanks for the post, AC. Here's mine, I think.

Barely sifted, but my first intended sift and still a favorite whenever I need a wake-up call.

and in utter and stark contrast:

In my PQ potentially because people think there is no shortage of panda vids, but alas, little do they realize this is an EVIL panda bear. Yes, there is such a thing.

Baby Pictures (History Talk Post)

My first attempted video was this really awesome spoken word by Marty McConnell, which didn't make it. So I posted a cat video, which did. And then later on I re-posted the poetry one and it sifted.

I remember the first time I saw this poem read was on TV, and that it had made me cry. It's pretty damn powerful stuff.

And what does the cat one reveal about me, other than I like kittehs? It reveals that I wanted to get rid of my P. Very profound, I know.

Glad the poem's helping you out so much. Rives is a medic for the soul. Cheers!

Just want you to know that I've watched this at least once a day since I found it on eric3579's slam poetry playlist a few weeks ago. I'm in a 1200 mile long-distance thing with my lady, and this poem helps us a lot. This man is a hero. Thanks for the post; even a year later, it still echoes...

In reply to this comment by rembar:
I still love this, but I'll be back.
