Today on C.G.W.-Cop Goes Into GTA Mode And Runs Down Suspect

bobknight33 says...

The intent was to stop the gunman.

He lived right. Sounds like his lucky day. He cheated death.

And he has a real story to tell his friends with video to boot.

I don't find this overreaching , as I think you are implying.

As I see it, the intent was obviously NOT to just injure him, it was to kill him with the vehicle. No question in my mind.
From the first cop's perspective, the action is NOT reasonable in the least...just listen to him on the radio, flabbergasted and disgusted at the second cop's actions.
This was FAR from a "safe resolution", it's only by chance that the man wasn't caught between the car and the cement wall it crashed all the way through....and crushing him to death certainly seemed to be the intent.
EDIT: If a citizen rolled his car towards a cop at 1/20 the speed seen here, he would almost certainly be shot and charged with attempted vehicular homicide...we've actually seen exactly that happen in other videos just because the brake lights went off, and the cops were "justified" in that case.

Anyone else find it odd that those who constantly rail against the overreaching powers of government are the same one's who consistently defend overtly violent cops as if they aren't the governmental enforcers? Can you say "disconnect"?

Cheating Death - Missed by Inches

As I posted on LiveLeak:
Did this really need a 40 second intro of a guy in a Halloween mask? Part of video editing skill includes pacing and this compilation really lacked it. The first clip played back in slow motion took forever to get to the point. At least it picked up after that but a lot of these are monotonous reposts. And the soundtrack was something out of "Drama Queen Loops Vol.6". Try again.

Agreed. It really blows when a video's editor has managed to detract from the value of the video by way of incompetence.

Cheating Death - Near Misses With Trains

The next shot of a train pulling away is actually the continuation of that scene from the in-station camera. You can see the man on the tracks move, I believe raising an arm. He is lifted onto the platform, and then lies motionless, but he was not killed by the train.>> ^xxovercastxx:

There appears to be 2 potential deaths here:
~7:50 it appears two men are fighting and one is shoved onto the tracks leaving the other hanging over the edge of the platform. A bystander pulls the second man to safety but the first man is still presumably on the tracks as the train leaves the station.

Though this aspect is not covered in the game, I now want to go play Railroad Tycoon.

Well the original did show trains crashing into each other, and off bridges. Not the same, but oh so awesome.

I never built wooden bridges if I could help it to avoid the scenario of a train falling into off the washed out bridge (because you were too cheap to install signal towers to HOLD all traffic)... except that one time when I really wanted to see the cutscene.

Also, this is a fantastic bit of background music to drown out whatever "meh" they had going on.
(Seriously sifting this up in response... and because I like it, of course.)

There appears to be 2 potential deaths here:
~7:07 a baby carriage rolls onto the track and is promptly demolished by the train pulling into station.

That incident was here in Australia - the baby survived with only minor injuries, fortunately. The mother had been distracted by a phone call and forgot to set the brake on the stroller. Unfortunately, the same thing happened in the same city seven months later, but again, the boy survived.

Oh thank science. I couldn't get on with my evening before I knew the bebbee was okay.

Oh. My. God @ -7:15, with the guy jumping away from one and then back from another. That was some Mission Impossible-style bs. My goodness, he looks like he works for the train, too. How could he be so stupid to not see/hear it coming?

Many people have called bullshit on that particular segment. I agree, it looks faked.

amazing how some people can seem to cheat death and walk away from things like the above video while others die from what might seem the simplest things (falling down, choking, etc...)
