Bach - Cello Suite No. 1 Prelude
>> ^Tofumar:
I love this performance. Oh, and if you go to youtube and look at the comments on this video, you'll get a nice example of what was parodied here on the other vid a few days ago: lots of people who probably can't even play cello critiquing this guy's interpretation.
lol you don't have to play a particular instrument to criticize a performance played on it, as long as you're not criticizing his technique but his interpretation. I do not like this guy's interpretation, it feels too fiddly, too fast, he emphasizes notes in weird places and he speeds up/slows down too fast and too much at once. But on the other hand, I love Phoebe Carrai's interpretation. Whatever if this Maisky is celebrated and won prizes, I don't care. Carrai's interpretation is better to my ear that his (she played for 10 years with a german historical ensemble devoted to 17th and 18th century music and it shows).
Kitty always loved you
Noooooo, not the cello!

Mohammad Abdu - 'Aba'ad' - Saudi Music Star at his Best
Wow, I must say I thoroughly hated that LOL
You may find my words biased, ethnocentric, ignorant etc etc etc. Alright, be it as it may.
THAT did not sound good, not forgetting to mention that 3 minute long interlude which gave me seizures.
If you take K-Fed's rap song and play with fancy instruments like cello, drums and traditional South Indian instruments for example, would it be that much better?
NO! It just amplifies its SUCKINESS!
This was my version of hell. Truly the worst auditory experience I've had in quite awhile.

Thanks, snoozie. That means a lot to me, coming from such a music enthusiast like you.

However I must say that despite all the technological advances in sound production, it's still hard to beat the sound of natural instruments when they're played well. That's why I love posting videos of acoustic guitar performances, along with videos of other natural instruments too.
I can't help it, but it's true. Don't get me wrong; I love modern music, obviously. Pink Floyd is one of my favorite bands, and they revolutionized the science of sound. I don't think I need to explain that to you. Still, at the the end of the day it's always the sound of natural instruments that really do it for me. One of my favorite Floyd tunes is "Wish You Were Here", and one of my favorite Yes tunes is "Mood For A Day". Of course there are MANY other favorites I have from those bands, but I find myself going back to those songs over and over more than most.
You know my feelings about God, but I tell ya, there's something in nature that man simply can't beat when it comes to music. Maybe it will always be that way. Ain't nothing wrong with that.

A synth is cool, but a cello is beautiful. One of my best friends owns a music store and he's an expert in vintage Martin guitars. In fact, he does the PBS road shows to appraise guitars for them. He has a huge collection of Martin guitars from the 20s and 30s. I can't afford one. I was with him a few months ago when he sold one for $55,000. But, I get to play them. Strumming one of those things will raise the hair on the back of your neck.
A synth ages and it just shorts out. A wooden instrument ages like fine wine. A great musician on a great instrument......you can't beat that.

I hate to sound like a music snob, because I'm certainly not. (Some of my music sifts will certainly attest to that.
