Massive Protests Erupt in Mainland China

SFOGuy says...

Hmm. My understanding of the great bargain was: as long as Xi Jing Ping and the CCCP can make the economy grow around 5.5 to 7% real growth--the larger quantity of the citizens will just go along to get along...

Socialism always fails. We've got more than enough of it here in America already. The ultimate goal of socialists is to create a central power which ultimately controls all resources and property (and thus all freedom). Of course, the good socialists don't consider themselves superior to the people they control, it's just someone has to step in and regulate everything (while staying immune to the laws they inflict on others).
The Soviet Union tried all this already under the label communism, which is socialism without a second chance for dissenters. With natural resources far more massive than the USA's, the CCCP had to import grain.
Drug Prohibition started out small and trivial. The American income tax (a commmunist gift) started out small and trivial. The federal government started out small and trivial.
The left's tax addiction stops HERE AND NOW.

Many countries the world over import grain because of fiscal reasons but it's a little more complicated than you might think. The real problem is getting water. See this story:

http://www.npr.org/2011/08/12/139579616/feeding-a-hotter-more-crowded-planet

Snippet: "The reason for that is the - is that it takes 1,000 tons of water to produce one ton of grain. So if you need to import water, the most efficient way to do it is with grain."

I have noticed this in people that are against socalisum , they always think of socalisum as purely how the sovoit system was and result to a straw man argument to suport there argument. I have not met one person that wants a soviet style socialist country.

Now imagen a capitalist system that was regulated by a democratic but socialist oriented government how could that be worse than out current system ?

I would describe the current existing system as this. A Corporatocracy that has degrees of democracy but only on issues that have negligible impact on capitalist interests, that runs a capitalist system.

In many ways the current system is far closer to the reality of a soveat style socialist society IE a bunch of people whole control the system at the top benefiting in the full whilst the vast majority of people are screwed over.

A. Obama isn't a socialist.
B. Socialism doesn't always fail.
C. That's not the ultimate goal of socialism.
D. You don't know what communism is. Hint: Your description of Socialism's ultimate goal is pretty close, except Communism doesn't intend to control all freedoms, just economic ones. That's still not Socialism, though. Socialists by definition aren't communists.
E. Japan, Hong Kong, and a slew of other countries must import food, too. Their economies are failures?! Your economic analysis is a sham.
F. If you're comparing the Soviet Union's economic system to what Democrats and Obama envision, go right ahead. Most democrats don't envision an economy much different than what you have now. The rich paying 40% top marginal tax rate instead of 35% isn't Socialist. It's certainly more socialist, but if that's socialism, what was the US when the rich paid over 90% in income tax in the 1950s? You know, during that time when McCarthyism was looking for anyone and anything to accuse of being a Communist?

Seriously....

Farhad .. that's perfect .. thank you very much!

Croccydile .. I've run into stuff like that from other videos I've converted and then edited but tbh you're talking way over my head. I guess I need to look in VirtualDub and set the i-frame interval lower?

thegrimsleeper .. CCCP looks good but I'm staying away from installing any codecs unless I specifically need one to render something (ie. no "packs"). Right now VLC handles whatever I throw at it.

You are a slave to the Rothschilds! End the Federal Reserve!

NetRunner says...

So let me get this straight, every President who's been assassinated was done so at the command of the Rothschilds, throughout all of our brief history?

And Imperial Russia was replaced by the CCCP by the same?

Did they also prevent us from using non-petroleum fuels, or are they the ones hoaxing us about global warming?

This is a great start for a fictional novel, or a videogame, but if this is supposed to be history, we need evidence, and proof.

Even a falsifiable hypothesis would be nice.

The World at War : The Soviet Union 1941 to 1943

Putin's Message to the West

conan says...

That was indeed very interesting. To a certain extent the creator of this video is right: There are certain reflexes when it comes to russia and specifically Putin. In my eyes he is clearly not a democrat himself (judging from his way of governance), but because of the reflexes i mentioned (clichees and cold war comparisons) i would say a regular person outside of Russia doesn't really get to hear more of Putin than single sentences, probably taken out of context. People love good/evil pairs, they don't like to hear from or think about greys in between. Videos like this are always helpful in getting to a profound opinion of the world around you. So thanks for that.

But i have to disagree with CCCP here on two things: "The same great nation that was fighting nazi oppression"? Not really. First of all today's russia didn't exist back then. You are refering to the soviet union (aka CCCP). Second, it was not as if the CCCP thought "oh, those evil Nazis! Let's fight them and save the world", but war was brought to them when Hitler was on his way of securing "Lebensraum im Osten" (translated to something like "living space in the east"), attacking for example Poland and what has become the Russia we know today. So they were defending themselves from direct attacks.

The Fighting the Nazis without a direct cause award clearly goes to the US, although in my eyes that wasn't an altruistic but economic decision.

Please, don't think of me or my comments of being anti-russian or somewhat, i just like to help lightening stuff up if i can. I'm always open to discussion.

-- edit: Oh i forgot: The speech itself was pretty good at most parts. I was surprised, i thought of Putin in clichees myself. So thanks again.
