People of Colour PD | 22 Minutes

cloudballoon says...

What a great idea! Love This Hour has 22 Minutes, our Canadian TV comedy show staple.

Hey our neighbor down South (looking at you, the US of A), you steal our IT pros, doctors, nurses & more. Why don't you steal this idea, eh? You're welcome!

If one uses Canadian TV as the antithesis of the programming tactics discussed above as a litmus for the effects on crimes in a country's population, well, one can see what causes the crime. Network programming is a crime in most countries...called mind control...social engineering-designed for the subjugation and enslavement of the masses O, Canada! If only you were not so FORKKING COLD!!!!

>> ^RedSky Actually ... wait isn't there some Canadian Comedy Central site where you can watch it already?

You'd think so wouldn't there? Funny enough, there is a large degree of difference between the comedy network in Canada, and in the US. The same as the history network in both countries, and the Cartoon Network. In Canada, all three versions take on a new meaning of the word "suck." Not only that, but the sites are so poorly designed that you can't find half of the stuff, and most of the shows aren't actually on there. Take that as futurama and others.

Now, as for advertisers? If you didn't notice, 80% of the Canadian population lives with 200mi of the US border. We see the same stuff, we buy the same goods(sometimes in the same packaging for more money), sometimes we even buy the same goods in smaller packages(for more money). And we even see the same commercials on Canadian TV(with a label switch), sometimes not even then.

I still haven't figured out what the issues are.

Saturday Morning Cartoons - Rocket Robin Hood Intro

budzos says...

I hate this fucking show. Never knew it was Canadian, but I am not surprised. I am challenged to remember any Canadian TV that didn't cause stifling boredom in my youth. As a 12 year old cartoon maniac I can't even put into words the distaste I had for this cartoon, which offered the least scientific science fiction, and least adventurous adventure that has ever been half-heartedly cobbled together by workmen who obviously couldn't give half a shit about what they were producing. I think the worst part was how much of the show consisted of titles, interstitials, teases, and recaps. If an episode was 22 minutes there was probably 11 minutes of content.

And don't even get me started on the quality of the animation or sound. This is some of the cheapest looking bullshit nimation ever put on television.

God I hate it so much. Funny thing is the same studio made The Mighty Hercules which I loved as a kid.

I believe that even visiting Europe will blow your head off. It's only sex, relax.

I am from Europe! Believe me, I have seen a lot =) What I'm saying is that this would not be seen to TV here in the US, didn't know Canadians can have this much more fun.

Forest Rangers Opening Title

Ooh - '60's canadian TV gets automatic upvote from me.

Oh, those innocent days when most of Canada was still forest, the main soure of transportation was either dogsleds or canoes without engines, and interactive venues were limited to transistor radios and fishhooks that were accidently embedded in your earlobes...

*nostalgic sigh...

That being said: who was the dumbass that gave those eight-year-old kids a hatchet and dumped them in front of a frickin' forest fire?

What books are you reading? (Books Talk Post)

Was sick this week, read Nerd Girl in Paradise City. It's basically the story of a smart college writer punkrock wannabe chick chasing the heavy metal dream in LA, and living Cake's Rock and Roll Lifestyle. Very well observed.

Library Books --

The productive programmer
Living Well without a car
Train Your Brain
Car Free in Boston

Books from Swaptree to read--
Steven Johnson/Emergence
The Big Switch

I guess it's funny that the only book that grabbed me was fiction and all the others are bran muffin books...I tend to packrat information to a much greater degree that I consume it. I want the Neo datajack.

Just discovered Canadian TV series Holmes on Homes. Home Renovation Schadenfreude. Very educational as we are in the market for a house. Will have to Netflix that.

I suspect that the broadcast ended when he did his "sign off" and rolled over, but the camera kept running, so the footage was available somewhere.
Or this may have been for an internet news agency, or some B-roll footage, or something that wasn't aired live.

I was going to write something, but it was all answered below.

LMAO... usually this happens to idiot children on America's Funniest Videos, but this moron's looking right at the tube coming toward him and does nothing. Love it!

Fox News' Daily Show: "The 1/2 Hour News Hour"

pmkierst says...

I didn't think it was that bad, really, and it had a couple of funny bits (admittedly interspersed with some yawners).

However, the title is kind of irritating ... haven't they ever hear of "This hour has 22 minutes"??? Classic (and very very funny) Canadian TV.
