QI - Hilarious Moment: People from Scotland
>> ^Trancecoach:
As an American, I need translation (or at least subtitles) for British humor.
It just isn't funny.
Yeah I've noticed that about American TV. An African or a Russian speaking in perfectly understandable English with a slight accent, and the American news channels slap subtitles on it. It seems quite derogatory to be honest.
Mind you I used to translate episodes of Rab C. Nesbitt to friends when I moved south to England. Hilarious is hilarious no matter how thick the accent!

The IT Crowd (U.S. version) Unaired Pilot
After watching the first 3 season of the original IT crowd, this americanized version doesnt seem as funny. The laugh track is annoying, or even if it is filmed in front of a life studio audiance theyre annoying.
Im guessin the main reason is alot of the british humor would go over some peoples head, so they make it into American humor. And they dont censor stuff on the original show, which is whats even more charming about it.
I think Ill pass on the american version. Moss doesnt feel right without the proper Roy (Chris O'Dowd).
Neil Gaiman on Good Omens
I gave this book to a girlfriend back in 1996 after thumbing through it and recognizing that Neil Gaiman + Magic + Black Humor had to = Win. She loved it, and she had very good taste as far as fiction was concerned. I always meant to read it because I like Neil Gaiman and british humor. Will try to do so before the movie comes out almost guaranteed to have Johnny Depp in it.

Christmas for drunkards: Fairytale of New York by The Pogues
The Pogues were a band I never 'got'. When I lived in Ireland (early 90's) they were super popular all across Europe and people were stunned that I'd never heard of them. I thought they were ok... but I wouldn't buy a cd or anything, all their songs sound the same to me.
Methinks it's like British humor, I just can't get into it.

Cupid Stunt - and it's all done in the best possible taste!
>> ^gwiz665:
I read the title a bit different... "Cupid Stunt", wasn't foremost in my mind, so I thought it was a bit nsfw.
Incidentally, this is probably the type of british humor that I don't care as much for: it's like, what's it called, Absolutely Fabulous. Give me Little Britain any day.
I did the same thing, I think its that way on purpose.

LOST Concept Meeting
At first I was like "knock on Lost!? I'll downvote so fast.." but the damn thing won me over. British humor at its finest.
LOST Concept Meeting
Eh, I didn't find this funny. Must be a British humor thing not in me.
