I’ve seen a ton of these lately…”woman/girl finds abandoned baby (Something cute) and saves It” but they rarely show the “rescue” (and some did that were blatant setups/fakes), and seem to always look like professional breeders raising babies with all the proper equipment and knowledge faking the feels for clicks, not real “rescues” by random good people.
Maybe this one’s real, but I’ve been jaded to the genre by the fakes. 🙁

Puppies are great, which is why you should never buy or glamorise the breeders in this video, while a single puppy lives in a shelter. These people have commodified the lives of these little beauties because they don't want to work a normal job like the rest of us.

Nuclear energy is the only way we can do it, we can run the planet forever and do things cleanly and more densely to leave more of our planet for wildlife.

The trouble is almost everything we hold as common wisdom about it is completely wrong, using breeder reactors have enough uranium to run the planet forever leaving almost no waste and removing the possibility of big accidents which actually aren't as harmful as commonly believed anyway.

We have thorium too, and many designs of each that can do the job. In fact we have a wealth of of options, but also a decades old and highly effective PR campaign from the fossil fuel industry to convince us otherwise.

The breeder who successfully develops a truly tame Fennec will make millions.

Keep in mind, thorium salt reactors have many disadvantages as well, including short lifespan, requiring an on site chemical plant to constantly maintain proper mixture levels, embrittlement and corrosion of containment vessels and pipes, etc., but the biggest hurdle is regulatory since they are 1) breeder reactors that enrich the fuel (which are nearly impossible to get approval for in today's climate) and 2) need fairly highly enriched fuels to operate, much higher levels than ordinary reactors (also causing major opposition).

None of those are insurmountable obstacles, but they are why we don't have them producing power today.

Coal is responsible for many orders of magnitude more deaths and radioactive emissions than all nuclear incidents combined. But people don't care about simple things like facts or numbers. Talking about renewables when a significant portion of baseload power is still produced by coal is pointless. Let people have their feel good green tech (made in China, powered by a lot of coal of course ; ), but replace coal with modern nuke.

Denying the place of recent generation nuclear power as a viable strategy of supplying cleaner baseload power is much like denying man made climate change. Fucking moronic.

Thorium salt reactors do produce waste, but it's incredibly safe compared to breeder/lwr reactor byproducts. In fact, you can introduce older reactor waste in to the liquid mix in small amounts and the LFTR will break it down to less harmful components by accelerating decay in the core.

My understanding is that the main barrier to achieving fusion sooner is funding. Unlike fission breeder reactors, there are few weapon applications - so military funding from the US doesn't go there.

Strangely enough, it seems the ears are not required to be a Scottish fold. The ones that don't have the folded ears are called "Straights".

In an extremely rare example of decency (in my experience), breeders have realized that breeding for pure, homozygous folds leads to health problems and it is now considered an unethical practice. So I, for one, am not about to call them out on the idea of a breed that doesn't breed true. I'd much rather see healthy cats that only exhibit the characteristics of the breed 50% of the time.

I think this is both right and wrong...natural selection CAN be even faster (but is not always) at forcing evolutionary change than 'breeding for traits' is, because breeders are not perfect and may allow unwanted traits or incomplete but wanted traits to continue, but nature is a horrible bitch goddess and if your traits really don't work for her, you simply die. That's certainly not always the case, but when it is nature is better at 'selecting' than humans. The rate of reproduction makes either process move faster.
It's true that humans have artificially created more breeds than nature would likely create alone, because we sometimes like traits that would hinder survival and through breeding amplify them to create a 'new breed'.
Nature forces the one's most suited for their environment to thrive, while humans often allow those less suited to live in their environment to survive for human reasons, erasing natural selection from the equation. Without our 'guiding hand' in their evolution, I think it's likely they would likely have even MORE change in some areas (and less in others) because environments are drastically different and different traits would evolve in different places, creating different 'dogs' such as wild dogs in Africa and/or dingos in Australia, which I think (but may be wrong) have evolved so separately that they can't breed with non-"wild dogs". It may lead to less variation in specific areas/populations, but more variation between those from different areas.

I'm 100% in favor of feeding human meat to animals, if it's safe for them to eat (most is probably poisoned). At least we could give a little back to nature in death, but people seem to want to keep it to themselves for some reason.
I'm also in favor of eugenics, or selective breeding of animals we have control of (including humans). We could have almost completely ended genetic diseases in one generation if only the thought didn't outrage and disturb most people. We could have also stopped the insane overpopulation with strict selective breeding, solving many if not most of the problems facing us today. That is a step removed from offing my little bro to feed the dogs....even I'm not that heartless in real life.
The only arguments I've heard against it are 'only Nazi's would do that', and, 'it's my right to pass on my (low quality) genes to as many mini-mes as I wish'. I disagree with those ways of thinking and see them as throwing out the baby with the bath water or short sighted self centered bad planning (or child abuse, depending on your genes).
Personally, I didn't think my 'better than average' genes were good enough to warrant creating another person to save them. (I have an above average IQ and no known physical genetic flaws, only crippling personality flaws and a broken body!) Perhaps you can imagine how I feel about the likes of Honey Boo-boo breeders negating my choice and then some.

I never purchase animals from breeders or shops, because I view their ilk as unethical in the face of the thousands of animals that ALREADY EXIST and DIE every year.

Stupid humans and their penchant for declaring one set of genetic qualities as better than another. A dog is a dog. A cat is a cat. Save the ones that need saving and halt your superfluous breeding to make money off of selective assholes.

I've owned a beautiful russian blue, orange tabby, dalmatian mix, german shepard, and austrailian cattle dog that I purchased from the pound. Pretty cheap, I did a good deed, and they ended up being some of the greatest companions of my life.

Seriously, stop breeding animals for so-called "pure" breeds. It's sickening. Actual lovers of animals and all things cuddly, think about this fact and stop doublethinking yourself into believing you're an animal lover. You're NOT. You love the idea of something cute that you believe is superior to another something that is less cute. And that line of thinking most certainly does not qualify you for anything other than a cretin.
