Even if Paul did recognize Borat, what about every other aspect of pop culture? It would take a full time job (i.e. watching TV six hours a day) to even keep up with the latest crap. What kind of leader would he be if he watched TV six hours a day? Look at any famous or successful person in history and undoubtedly they will have been more "out of touch" than the regular person because they don't spend their time using they spend their time producing.

The culture he is in touch with is the culture he lived while he was young. He is 73, do you think you are going to care about pop culture when you are 73? He has authored 19 books, and freqently gives talks and lectures. Ron Paul doesn't watch TV he is ON TV. I don't know how many books he has read but it has to at least be in the thousands.

Try writing 19 books, getting a M.D. , delivering thousands of babies, serving in the military, being a grandfather, a US representative, and running for president and see how much time you have to watch MTV news.

Ha! The Borat ad seems to reinforce that whole feeling of utter failure.

A lot of this looks staged (i.e. the talk show segments), those were the worst parts of the Borat movie. He works best when nobody else knows what is going on.

Actually, Kymbos, there's a video on the web from (I think) a year ago or so where the cops were called on him and he was banned from somewhere... Was it an airport? In any case, it was during the shooting of this movie, and made local news. He got in some trouble for it.

It's not COMPLETELY real, but the reactions are. For example, in Borat, remember the scene where he's driving with the three college kids who are drunkenly giving him advice on women? Well they actually recruited those kids from the local college by asking, "Does anyone want free beer? Well sign these waivers and get in the van!" pretty much. They later sued, but ultimately lost... You know, pretty much EVERYBODY in Borat sued him after the movie because it was such a success lol. But back on topic, so you see, everything in the movie was 'real', but how they obtained the people who inevitably made fools of themselves were different then how they portrayed, for the movie's sake.

While the moronic Ron Paul was campaigning for the U.S. presidency, Bruno cleverly tricked him into a dark bedroom during an interview. Bruno made passes at the homophobe Paul, and at one point Bruno dropped his pants in front of the congressman. Paul ran out of the room yelling, "He's a damn queer!"

I commend Sacha Baron Cohen for taking extreme risks in the name of outing known homophobes in our representative government. It's obvious Paul hates gays by that comment alone.

Cohen also cleverly tricked the equally moronic (and equally fringe libertarian) Bob Barr into eating cheese made from human breast milk in the Borat movie. I like to think the breast milk came from the teet of a poor working class single mother without enough welfare to care for her family of eight.

Parts of Borat were funny, but this trailer is a let-down. Think I'll pass.
