What's Chuck Baldwin's solution? Or Bob Barr's?

Personally, I find this to be an odd choice, since the Constitution Party is essentially the embodiment of the Christian Right.

Here's an analysis of their platform I came across today.

I wonder if this was mostly done to piss off Bob Barr.

Well, Deedub81 is right, McCain won't raise taxes, but nickreal is right also, Obama gives more tax relief to more people. Both candidates want to cut taxes, and according to MANY tax professionals, both of them are doomed to failure. The problem is that we've got this huge fucking war going on, but the people who wanted the war (i.e. those who voted for Bush) don't want to pay for it.

Obama's plan gives the most tax relief at the lowest, gradually offering less relief, until you start making over $250k, when the taxes start going up.

McCain offers tax cuts across the board, but he offers the smallest relief to those making the least, and the most benefit to those making the most. For someone who thinks the fundementals of the american economy is the average joe worker, he certainly isn't going to be doing any favors for them.

Now, I'm not endorsing either plan. I think that the government needs to raise taxes until it can have a balanced budget, and once we're no longer in other countries pockets, start downsizing itself.

Unfortunately, after the extreme of Phil Gramm's deregulation and Cheney wrapping up our tax dollars and giving it to Haliburton and the oil companies, we REQUIRE a very strong democratic economic agenda. Its not the perfect form of government, and I really hope it doesn't last for long (I would have voted Libertarian till they nominated Bob Barr).

Your homework, children, is to read an actual analysis of the plans, rather than spouting off whatever Hannity or Matthews tell you to be upset about. I'd recommend starting with the excerpt from this analysis to get you in the mood:

The taxation is the the problem. The problem is who you are taxing... In Obama he wants to raise the tax to the top 10% and lower the tax for the rest. Mc Dogle here wants to raise the tax for everyone. So you want less tax for you then vote Obama.

Agree on Bob Barr and "The Body". I thought Ron Paul's bit was pretty good too... And I chuckled at Ron Reagan Jr.'s rule.

Newsflash for Arlen Specter: The RNC does not count all of its delegates. Specifically, Wyoming, New Hampshire, Michigan, South Carolina, and Florida were only allowed half of their delegation, as per RNC rules.

I'm surprized that he's the only one focused on this issue and I commend him for he has no fear in engaging in critical thinking and debates on it.

Bob Barr is an awesome choice for the Libertarian candidate. Many ideological Republicans who dislike McCain will go to Bob, although Palin may be able to slow the bleeding somewhat if she doesn't implode. Many ideological Libertarians who have taken a look at Bob Barr's abysmal (very un-libertarian) voting record will go to Obama. Both ideological and movement Democrats will never forgive Bob Barr for being the fascist bigot who authored the 'defense of marriage' bill and slavishly towed the Republican line for the duration of his public service.

Blankfist, I respect your libertarian perspective, but I think the Libertarian Party has sold out by using Bob Barr as their standard bearer and I see your support of him as contradictory of your own idealism. It's not an attack, it's a challenge. Do you have a better option?

Also, yes, Obama is the best viable candidate of the last two decades.

When given the privilege of public service, how did Bob Barr choose to spend his time?

-He authored the anti-gay 'defense of marriage act'.
-He authored legislation to outlaw Wiccan worship on military bases.
-He was a signature of the patriot act.
-He was a huge supporter of the 'war on drugs'.
-He was a huge supporter of the impeachment of Clinton, yet sees no need to impeach Bush.
-He sought to outlaw abortion.
-He supported the embargo of Cuba.

And the list goes on and on and on.

Honestly. With such a poor record, why would anyone want to give him even greater responsibility?
