Every vehicle in the President's motorcade, explained

fuzzyundies says...

When I was working at NASA/Ames on Moffett Field in California, Clinton came to give a speech in Mountain View. Being the closest military airfield, Air Force One landed there. We expected a motorcade to close the base down but he ended up taking a helicopter. Just like in the video, two Blackhawks (which were a common sight on Moffett, but not usually green) lifted off and flew really fast and low away towards Mountain View.

AF1 stayed overnight, and had floodlights positioned all around it so that nobody could sneak up unnoticed. We were on the other side of a chain link fence near the blimp hanger, but we got within a few hundred meters of the plane. Really neat.

Toph is Blind

Shepppard says...

One of my favourites is the last episode (so, spoilers)

But in the end, when Sokka and Toph are hanging onto the blimp, hopeless, and finally something good happens (I think suki shows up)

And her reaction of "Did boomerang come back?!"

I miss that boomerang.

JLENS Inflation Aberdeen Proving Ground

Just to state the obvious: given the number of attacks by drones and cruise missiles on the area between Boston and North Carolina over the last decades, I'd say this pair of blimps is welfare for Raytheon and a means to intensify surveillance on people in the area covered by them.

Skydiver Almost Struck By Meteorite

StukaFox says...

I have a really hard time believing this.

In the entire history of air flight, millions and millions of miles have been logged and not once has an airliner, helicopter, blimp or glider ever hit or been hit by a meteorite. I would think the odds would be astronomically higher that an aircraft would be hit than a single skydiver who just happened to have his GoPro on.

Not saying it's impossible, it just feels highly, highly, highly unlikely.
