Should you use Hydrogen Peroxide to clean wounds?

Xaielao says...

Yes it's a classic way to clean wounds and ForgedReality is right, it's perfectly fine so long as you don't leave it on the wound. I grew up having my scrapes and cuts cleaned with hydrogen peroxide then with good clean water seconds later before a bandage, as have millions of us.

Should you use Hydrogen Peroxide to clean wounds?

ForgedReality says...

Pain? What pain? It's always been completely painless for me. And you don't leave it on long, just enough to kill whatever might be hanging around the area, and then you bandage it. It's perfectly fucking fine.

I'm getting a little tired of these guys' videos and how inaccurate they can be. Especially, the ridiculous ones where they try to perform ideas they read about on the internet or wherever for making people's lives easier. One that quickly comes to mind is the one where they try "closing a cereal box in a pyramid shape." Idiot. You don't FOLD THE SIDES OF THE BOX, you fold over the sides of the BAG into a triangle before ROLLING it. This helps it stay closed tighter and better.

There have been others, but, like this one, they're just presenting their own (inaccurate) opinion. H202 is fine as long as you don't put tons on and leave it there for hours.

Christchurch From The Streets - trailer

newtboy says...

How did the wizard fair? Was he still out there doing his thing when the quake hit? I had a great time with him in the late 80's. He was a fixture of the town at that time, I hope he's still there trying to sell his 'inside out universe' and 'upside down globe' theories, along with all the other insanity he spouted so gleefully.
It's so sad to see the damage still so bad 4 years later. Hints of New Orleans in that. It was such a beautiful place (and still is, but obviously in recovery).
One good thing though, this gives Christchurch the opportunity to become the most technologically advanced city in NZ, or even the entire southern hemisphere. Since the infrastructure needs to be rebuilt anyway, youall can do it right instead of just plastering over rust and broken concrete (like we do here in the US). Fingers crossed that it gets done the right way, and not just bandaged over with last century tech.
I SOOOO want to come back there and visit again. Most beautiful country and people (on the inside anyway) anywhere on earth. I miss it badly.

marx was right-capitalism vs socialism

alcom says...

Capitalism is nearing the end of its useful life. Indeed, it has improved the lot for billions world wide but the wealth gap trend is concentrating power and money into a tiny and untouchable group if power elitists. I don't think we're heading for a USSR/China model of communism, but based on this repeating cycle of boom and bust where the oligarchy always comes out well ahead and the vast majority are left to suffer.

I heard throughout the talk that "Capitalism is stagnant," and "the problem is productivity." These points really ignore that those at the top of the heap actually profited during the financial crisis. I don't think this is simply a complaint about "fairness." I think this is the central issue.

Those with real wealth can leverage it to not only stay wealthy, but grow that wealth continuously. Since money begets influence, no significant change will take place until some major upheaval forces the masses into action. If Capitalism can keep adding bandage "corrections" after every recession, the status quo will probably continue.

Woman pulls porcupine quills from raven's face

chingalera says...

-the survival circuit over-riding others-the raven is already pretty nonplussed by humans as they're mainly scavengers living in proximity-Trippy that the bird didn't fly-off and maybe back after those quill-pulls? Here's the real rub:The bird's brain probably processed the information that it would take a big brain and some thumbs to do the work and made the connection to engage a suitable pair!

Create distraction, remove adhesive bandage

I'm guessing it's got some genetic trait that reduces its ability to feel fear, explaining both why it would get up close and personal with a porcupine, and why it would be unafraid of humans.

Spray on Clothing

He stole my spray-on-bandage idea that I patented years ago in my mind.

It would also be infused with antiseptic, analgesic, blood clotting, and cicatrization promoting drugs.

Taco Bell: Discovering Bethel, Alaska

spoco2 says...

Personally, I don't believe that Taco Bell did create the initial hoax. I think they just heard about it and someone leapt at the PR possibility.

Again, my point of view:
* I quite like the act itself
* I don't mind that they do things like this for publicity
* I just cringe at people honestly believing that Taco Bell is nice for doing this. As I said, nice would have been to do this without telling everyone else how nice they are.
* So yeah, I don't have issue with companies doing things like this for publicity. They're stunts, stunts are fine, a bunch of people got some tacos. I just hate to see people get completely sucked into thinking 'Awww, look how nice that Taco Bell is... I'll go and eat at the PepsiCo company store now because they're nice'.

No need for everyone to get so shitty at me for thinking like that, sheesh.

Yes, everybody alive knows Taco Bell did this because they had incentive to do so.
As far as I can tell, you're agreeing this was a nicer way for them to achieve their business obligations to their shareholders instead of flushing the money down the toilet in a TV commercial, and you want to encourage companies in this direction, but you can't quite bring yourself to say it.

No, I'm saying I believe this was a deception crafted entirely by taco bell. The "hoax" was initiated by taco bell and they responded to their own hoax.
It's sort of like punching someone in the face while they're asleep and then rushing to their aid with a bandage. They didn't see you punch. And now you're the hero for helping.

Child sings homophobic song at church, is applauded by crowd

Ryjkyj says...

On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. "Teacher," he asked, "what must I do to inherit eternal life?" "What is written in the Law?" he replied. "How do you read it?" He answered: " `Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, `Love your neighbor as yourself.' " "You have answered correctly," Jesus replied. "Do this and you will live." But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?" In reply Jesus said:

"A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, took him to an inn and took care of him. The next day he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper. `Look after him,' he said, `and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.'

"Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?" The expert in the law replied, "The one who had mercy on him." Jesus told him, "Go and do likewise."

Police Video: No Blood, Bruises On George Zimmerman

Porksandwich says...

I thought it strange that the cop is touching Zimmerman without gloves on. You would think he'd have blood on him and the cop would not want that on his hands. On the red coat you wouldn't think it would show up on camera, but that grey shirt it would. So either he had no blood on his shirt and the jacket closed, and that cop stuck his hand in blood while checking him.......or there's no blood on him at all.

You do see the cop wipe his hand on his pants, but that's after he checks Zimmerman's back, which would be wet or have dirt on it if he was in the grass.

I see no bandages, nothing in his nose to stem blood flow from a broken nose. There is a point in the video where the light catches the crown of his head and you can see a line that may be indicative of a scrape or abrasion, but he would have a bandage if it were bad. The paramedics had seen him by this point, and he chose not to go to the hospital.

If I had just been brutally attacked, I'd want to go to the hospital and not the police station. Since the head beating was supposed to be bad, you don't know what the hell may have happened.....unless he was knocked crazy and was loopy from the beating. Which they would have made him go to the hospital at that point.

I also find it strange that they didn't take his clothes.

And for those whom are following the case, there's news out now that the police wanted to get an arrest warrant for manslaughter for Zimmerman, but were denied by the Attorney General. The expert the news interviewed said it was unusual, but not unheard of for an AG to not take police recommendation. That AG has recused himself from the case and they've put someone else in charge of the decisions now.

http://video.msnbc.msn.com/newsnation/46883285/#46883285 This is a video where they discuss this.

I suspect Joe Oliver was let into the press to make Zimmerman look better, failed. So now Zimmerman's father has come into the picture realizing it looks bad.
