Wheelchair Drifting.

Darkhand says...

Think about all the non-existent children he endangered with this act! What apathy for other pedestrians in this area!

Oh wait I forgot I don't care about that stuff. On the sidewalk or in the street this guy gets a Badass Seal of Approval

Football (soccer) in a nutshell

thumpa28 says...

Well as the guy says, each to his own. You could say the same about american football, the constant breaks, the changing teams, the fact its called football when they mostly use hands and dont use a ball... I have no doubt gaelic football would cause the same apathy in some individuals. However to say this video is representative of the game is just, well, daft. Firmly tongue in cheek.

I don't like soccer because it's boring. The diving just makes it pitiful too. Sprinkle in a dash of settling games with penalty shootouts to really bring out that cheesy flavor.

Voter Apathy - Tales Of Mere Existence

also, the Electoral College is a power check against the people. The electoral college is not required to vote with the peoples choice. Should the people choose a 3rd party candidate, the electoral college, as part of the establishment, would side with the establishment.
while we enjoy many things here in the states, democracy is not one of them.

You're 100% right. Now what are you doing about it?

Voting is apathy. If you want to be politically active get a weapon and use it.
Best answer ever.

No, it's a retarded answer. It's the answer of someone with the mentality of a 13 year old boy. But at least it's got the right motivation, if entirely the wrong methodology.
Personally, I think this is something Australia got right. You want to be a citizen? Fucking vote.
Once again, if you're not voting, what are you doing to fix the issues that cause you to not vote.

i guess that depends on what you call "participation"
i spent 2 yrs as an attorney with the fed gov, afterwhich i worked public interest law with disability, domestic violence victims, and then incarcerated juveniles (prison reform). Then I switched out of law to study the spine and neurology and have spent the last 12 yrs getting better at getting people out of pain, and teaching it.
now the question isn't what am i doing about things, the question is whether punching a button on a ballot machine is actual participation or just a way to make people feel like they are participating, when in fact, they couldn't be more apathetic or out of touch with reality.

TYT: Obama's Record on Climate Change

Fletch says...

It partly explains voter apathy on the Dem side. Obama was sent to the White house with a clear mandate (which he ran on), and he largely ignored it or "compromised" it away after he got there. And don't post me a link to that "lookie at what all Obama's done" page. It's horseshit. This election, many Dems are just voting for Obama because he's not Romney.

Also, fusion has been 30 years away for about 40 years now. How about a Manhattan Project-level effort towards that? In the meantime, let's help Japan build their space elevator so we can have a safe method of disposing all the nuclear waste from all the nuclear power plants we are going to need to build until fusion is viable.

Voter Apathy - Tales Of Mere Existence

Yogi says...

Voter apathy makes perfect sense when you look at polls. Polls should that most people believe that government doesn't speak for them, and they're right, and that it's only for the most powerful of people. There was a study done on this that should for the middle 1/3rd of income in the country there was No correlation between how congress votes and their interests. For the lowest 1/3rd there was a negative correlation. When you know the system doesn't work for you you tend not to worry about it, plus you've got shit to do.

i'll vote when the system isn't rigged and bought,... and our supposed democracy isn't just a dramatic diversion from reality.

If everyone that used this excuse were to go and vote for a 3rd party candidate, so that they got >5% of the popular vote, they would qualify for federal campaign funding.

it's not an excuse. it is a purposeful action/inaction.
i voted for most adult life. and i've even been an attorney for the federal government, seeing the machine from within. But the futility of changing the system by the rules of the system is a reality. The rules of the system are such that they are intended to preserve the status quo.
...
"Divide and conquer" is a fundamental strategy of the ruling elite to control the masses. Our 2 party system is an extension of this. To make a 3rd party candidate viable requires more than just a vote...it requires an education into how the political system works and an understanding of how it is purposefully polarized. While I am happy to push for a greater understanding of the political system, I am fairly against participating in an ongoing charade.

Extremely Earnest Children Sing Of Romneypocalypse

renatojj says...

I find it sadly amusing the length some people go to smear and destroy Romney's image, as if Obama is any better. Even if Obama is better, I just don't see how he's better enough to be worth fighting for.

You Forgot To Hit Pause...

L0cky says...

This made me really nostalgic. Not just the pixel art, but the music too.

Playing the SNES in a video game haze to a background of melancholic 90's rock, buoyant punk and grunge apathy; smoking too much; drinking cheap beer and vodka (and whatever else we could get our hands on).

Waking up on an old sofa chair bathed in dimly flashing colours and quiet, looping chip music.

Super Metroid; Prince of Persia; A Link to the Past; Secret of Mana; Mortal Kombat and Super Mario Kart.

Spider-Man and Wolverine comics, and Kerrang! on the floor.

And an otherwise, abject poverty.

Seems like another life now.

Why I Support Julian Assange (Politics Talk Post)

chingalera says...

The charge of sexual impropriety reeks of an intelligence attempt at character assassination. I fear and despise the government here but the apathy is what scares me even more....Can;t stand to live around the masses who sould give a fiddler's fuck about anything but their entertainment-minus-information robot-think.

Assange fucked-up because he's fighting a machine whose governor has been removed from the flywheel...that machine embedded in the side of a granite mountain and thought information flowing freely would somehow wake a few peeps up to the gravity of its size, scope, players, etc. He's one dude, man. He should have figured that his life would be a pain in the ass after the first trickle fell from his tap. Now, he will remain most likely, vilified and estranged from participation in the game. Not a smart move...BOLD, but not to wise.

Then there's the matter of leaking information without the need-to-know to any and all-comers: Pretty shitty of you Julian, even though your intentions were seemingly noble. To departmentalize without permission well, back to the not-too-bright scenario....Dude?? Did you think that a bunch of "Talking loud and saying nothingers" having your back in internet forums could defeat or sway the masses who devour scat from the Monster Media?? Poor choice of battle plans mister, read Art o' War n try to get the gyst!!
