12 yr. old Palestinian MC Abdul "Shouting At The Wall"

newtboy says...

I’m against it, it’s a crime.
I believe in work visas, refugee status, and legal immigration. I believe in a system of charging employers who hire illegal immigrants to skirt taxes, wage laws, labor laws, etc. harshly enough to make it not worth the risk (like take the company/assets of repeat offenders, and using the money collected to fund the immigration and naturalization department and figure out how to supply labor without forcing people to be criminals to get a job.

Sadly those systems are broken.

Because those systems are completely broken and don’t serve the needs of either the immigrants nor the employees that need their labor, we have a massive illegal immigration problem because we have a massive labor shortage issue.

There is a parallel, but it’s not the same thing. We have (or had until recently) a strong well defended democracy, and an enormous population and landmass compared to 1917-48 occupied Palestine, and they had only a fledgling government when the Jewish war refugees they invited started inviting and facilitating a flood of illegal immigrants with a plan to take over the small country. Most of our illegal immigrants are here to make money to take home, I’m unaware of any efforts to return Texas (pre-breakup) to Mexican control like 40’s -50’s Israel.

IMO, Israel is like if 2/3 of Texas became “Tex-Mex” by force, a new country where only those of Mexican descent have rights, a vote, can own property, etc. and white Texans are forced to live in NW Texas under guard struggling to find food and water with Tex-Mex constantly squeezing them into smaller and smaller areas.
Strangely enough, you will note that those same flag waiving anti immigrant (not just anti illegal immigrant mind you) far right wingers are staunch supporters of Jewish Israel….almost like they don’t know history….wait…

@newtboy,

I have to ask your stance on illegal aliens within the USA today in that case, since you seem to use it as a derogative against 1930/40s Jewish refugees fleeing Europe for Palestine...

Feels to me the confederate flag wavers stance on illegal immigrants in the US parallels the picture you're painting of 1930s/40s Palestinian immigration closer than you maybe like to admit.

Republican national effort to manipulate election laws

quantumushroom says...

An idiot propagandist like Maddow is only possible with an ignorant, uneducated generation, which we have thanks to government schools.

Anti-immigration law? Try anti-illegal invasion law.

Pushing "real democracy" in a Republic which doesn't reocognize direct democracy?

And why exactly are "progressives" suprised that the other side is trying to win?

No dirty tricks are needed are to oust liberals. The Kenyawaiian would only get 41% of the vote if the election were held yesterday. Real unions are fine, they face hostile management and sink companies when their demands are outrageous. Government unions collude with taxocrats in office to a$$fk taxpayers.

Proof The Tea Party isn't Racist

VoodooV says...

Besides...them being racist is really not the reason Teabaggers shouldn't be in power.

They pretend that they're not Republicans, but that's a lie. They pretend that they want more fair taxation, but Fair Tax is anything BUT fair and obviously favors the wealthy. They're anti-illegals, but they bend over backwards to accomodate the corporations that hire them to improve the bottom line. They pretend they are this grass root movement, but they've received plenty of corporate backing.

They, like Republicans, operate under the myth that being rich and successful go hand and hand with morality and education, when it's actually usually the opposite. Those unhindered with morality and integrity are often the ones willing to exploit and manipulate their way to the top. You don't need to be educated to be successful, you just need to know how to play the game and be ruthless.

The best and brightest of humanity are not necessarily rich and/or successful.

Teabaggers being shameless racist is the least of the issue.

Wow, I actually agree with quantumushroom! I normally agree with Maddow, but she's just wrong on this one. I live in Arizona, so I see it clearer than most. We are not anti-immigration, we are anti-ILLEGAL immigration. I just want illegals to become legal so that they can pay taxes just like me. That's all.

Pretty simple really.

TDS: Democratic Super Majority

HollywoodBob says...

>> ^Winstonfield_Pennypacker:
I wouldn't be concerned. There is no way in the world that the Democrat party is going to NOT pass some sort of health care bill. The only question is whether or not the blue-dog Democrats will or won't be able to prevent it from having (A) a public option (B) zero controls on illegals (C) protections for current insurance plans (D) sufficient funding to actually pay its own enormous costs.

A) To hell with the public option, we need a full blown NHS, like every other industrialized nation in the world.

B) I work around illegals several days a week. The majority of them are hard working people doing the jobs that American don't want to do for the wages they get. Home construction costs in Florida would double without them. Any time I hear anti-illegal ranting, all I hear is racism masquerading as concern.

C) Yeah we need to protect current plans, like the lady I was listening to last weekend talking about the 1000$ a month she was paying for insurance coverage. To hell with the insurance companies, they're a blight on this country and have been ever since Nixon allowed Kaiser Permanente to form.

D) Education and Health care should be the two most important social programs that our government should fund regardless of the cost. You know how you fund it? Taxation like everything else. My taxes go to fund military actions that kill innocent people, industrial subsidies that keep corporate profit margins high, abstinence only sex-ed and other faith based programs, endless reconstruction of highways, and a whole host of other programs that I personally disagree with. Why is it OK for me to have to pay taxes to fund these things that I dislike that do me and many others no good, yet when there is a program that will help every single citizen, it can't be allowed to be put into action because you and other conservatives don't like it?

It's the same hypocritical rhetoric we have come to expect from conservatives. "Taxes are bad for everything that we don't like. And because we don't like it we're gonna fight tooth and nail against it."
