Answering machine all schools should have.

^ ... There are a class of parents who want to take no responsibility for their own children ...
I HAD to reply to that statement...in fact, the problem itself is that parents take ALL the responsibility for their own children...leaving NO room for the child to be accountable for his/her own actions. It makes for horrendous adults.
Dear Parents:
Please, for the love of all that is human and good, let your kids screw up, and let them take the consequences of their screw ups. You are not your kids, nor vice/versa.
I think I worded that badly. I definitely agree that kids should be allowed to try and fail at things, but there are a group of parents who refuse to accept that their kid may be doing the wrong thing, or not trying hard enough or are disruptive, but instead think that its all manner of other things that are at fault. It's not their kid, it's the teacher. It's not their kid, it's other kids in the class. And they get so worked up when their kid does poorly and demand explanation and why has the school failed them etc.
Sometimes the school is definitely at fault in these cases, BUT more often than not its the kid, and by extension, really the parent who is at fault.

Crazy Calls - 80s Answering Machine Tape TV Ad
"You're about to enter... the answering machine zone." Really? Couldn't think of something better than "The Answering Machine Zone"?

I've never seen him do live standup, but I've heard the same from others that liked the TV series as much as me...standup was disappointing.

The Adventures of Willy Beamish
holy crap, I was gung hoe to watch them all in a row until I seen all those links. I like the describer there, Viewed/played this game as a wee one, actually over at my friends on his high tech computer. we only had the demo version or we couldnt get past the thing with the frog/ answering machine. thats the last I remember of playing that game. But I am glad I can see how it all went down after that. THANKS FOR THE SIFT.
Phonecall that got Jonathan Ross& Russell Brand suspended
I was considering posting this but decided it wasn't really worth it.
The whole episode is stupid; these guys didn't do anything especially wrong, but they didn't make a good radio program either. Another irrelevant controversy springs up because the jealous British public want their periodic pound of celebrity flesh. The fact that the PM commented on it just proves that he's nowhere near competent to lead a country. I'd really love to drive a railroad spike into that man's face.
Kick them off the radio because they suck at it, not because leaving a couple of unfunny answer-machine messages is suddenly serious enough to take away a person's career.

For some reason my answering machine lets you slow down the speed of playback. Hours of hilarity.
Steve Martin Checks His Messages on The Tonight Show
xax, in this case, his answering machine probably DID cost a crap load of money. These days machines respond to touch tones because all phones are touch tone, but back then many wernt, so instead you get a device that plays the tones. If you didn't realize, touch phones are actually just a tone generator. Calls are made with the tones (as well as automated selections from services over the phone). I had a pda program that would dial a contact in my address book by holding the receiver end up to the speaker.

Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)
Great clip. I guess answering machines would have been pretty novel back then.
