Little Help Needed from Anyone with an iPhone 5 (Sift Talk Post)

oritteropo says...

I did see this, but it wasn't consistent.

When I clicked a few of the images I got mouseover for each of them, but then clicking a second, third, fourth or fifth time did nothing except flash a square around the image... no page load happened.

It wasn't consistent though, at that exact moment I got a message and left Safari to reply to it, and when I went back everything worked. I tried a page refresh, but that didn't bring back the bad behaviour either.

I'm running iOS version 8.4 (12H143), and it's very likely to be version dependent.

Now I'm curious how @lurgee will go!

This is what she reported back to me: "On my Iphone 5 the mousover text pops up and I can click. The second time I want to do this it doesn't work anymore. On the iphone of a friend it does not work at all; nothing happens."

Does it do the same for you, that the "second time" (not sure if she means tapping the same hotspot a second time or tapping a second hotspot) you tap it doesn't work anymore?

Wait a minute...neuronally challenged from sleep deprivation and exhaustion.

I sent the previous transmission on Safari so it obviously is operational on profile pages but not video pages.

FUN!

Sorry for the lag...still trying to surface for air after the flood.

It must be a Safari issue. Comments are not shown and the buttons are indeed greyed before and after typing.

Firefox is operational. I hate Firefox...and Safari for that matter. Oh darn.

My best to you and yours.

Thank you as always.

They're greyed even after typing your comment?

Nothing comes to mind. Nothing has changed on the server recently.

If you're in Chrome can you hit F12 and see if there are any JS error messages on the Console tab?

This is fucking hilarious. Kids are just sponges for this sort of thing. I've got an 18 month old boy and he's not quite talking yet but I'm having to really watch what I say so he doesn't pick anything up. I'm not great at it though...

As for Lucky760: Windscreen yes, but they are in a safari park, not on the road. I'd sit my little boy on my lap like that too in a safari park. I'm not going to pay a small fortune to take him in and then not see anything!

In the UK they call a windshield a windscreen and they call Mom's lap a carseat.

Along with Payback, I too am running into oddities accessing the site. For me, it appears to be browser based.

Google Chrome, Safari and Firefox, it works fine. Opera, my preferred browser, has stopped working with the videosift address. The cdn version or direct IP routes work fine.

The ipv4 address matches, and I've yet to acknowledge ipv6 but I'll assume it's accurate

videosift.com -> 2600:3c00::f03c:91ff:fe70:f3af, 66.228.54.105
cdn.videosift.com -> 108.161.188.129

Lioness jumps off a cliff to catch an antelope in mid-air

robbersdog49 says...

Everyone knows this, but it's different when it's happening right in front of you and taking you completely by surprise. I've seen a lion kill a zebra, right in front of our vehicle as close as these guys are to the action and it's completely different seeing it in the flesh as it is watching it in a video.

You can see the fear in the struggling prey. You can hear it gasping for breath and struggling to cry out. You can feel the power of the lioness. You can see the blood pumping out of the prey into the lion's mouth and running down it's side. Flesh being ripped from the prey while it's still panting its last.

It's a harrowing experience. Whether you know that they eat meat or not, if you're not moved watching this happen just feet from you then there's something wrong with you. It's a wild, exciting, horrible, awesome thing to see. Just because it's completely natural and normal for the lion doesn't mean that someone seeing it for the first time should feel comfortable watching it. It's not a comfortable thing to see.

Watching a cat catch a mouse is one thing, but lions are working on a human scale. It's doing what it could do to you. Seeing it for real is a massive adrenaline rush because your body is well aware that it shouldn't be that close to what's happening, even if your mind can overrule it, you still get the rush.

Anyone going on safari knows that lions eat other animals, it's one of the things people really want to see. When we saw it there was one young lady with us who couldn't watch because it upset her too much, and it's not because she was a wuss, it just really was upsetting to see. Doesn't mean she thought the lion shouldn't be doing it, it's not a moral judgement in the slightest, she just didn't want to watch an animal die like that.

I just resubmitted the current number one video (true facts about the armadillo), and it told me that my embed is good. I'm using Safari v7.0.
