Toronto police charge G20 crowd singing "O Canada"

Krupo says...

People were sitting on the patios on this posh shopping street until moments earlier, enjoying their cocktails. This wasn't a rowdy/violent environment. That's what makes this horrible.

Also bad, all the madness @Tyrsis cites.

So that's cool with you? Police charging dramatically at a crowd right at the end of a national anthem?
Seems like they did it for fun. Because we all like to scare the shit outta people.
Except, they're cops.
Serve and protect my ass.

It depends. There isn't enough information in this video for me to make any kind of substantive moral judgment.
If it was for fun, yeah, definitely bad.
But I suspect the police are sufficiently scared of these protesters not to fuck with them just for fun.
If it was merely a way to use intimidation to non-violently disperse a crowd of protesters, I actually like this a lot better than 90% of the kinds of things you usually see in these videos. No tear gas, no physical altercations, not even a sonic weapon. Just a sudden, terrifying charge forward, and the crowd disperses, and moves away from the area they were trying to clear.
There might be an argument about whether they had a legitimate reason to clear that particular area, but assuming they did, and it was actually as non-violent as it appeared, then I think the police did pretty well considering the kind of task they were charged with, and the kind of draconian tools they could have chosen to use instead.
There may be details we don't see here that make the cops look out of line, but the video itself actually looks like the cops doing things the way they're supposed to.

I'd certainly appreciate a posh British accent over an American one, as I'm guessing Mr Gyllenhall will have (and the character in the latest PoP game had...ugh).
Agreed, baby steps here on the accent. Though, it is the same as was in the first of the new games.

I'm very glad it doesn't look like they took ANY character cues from Emo Within or Two Whiners.

I'm especially appalled by the horrible out-of-place posh British accent on Farah (presuming they retain the original name for the princess).

As for the girl's name, apparently they aren't going with the game name of Farah. Just checked the imdb page and her name is Tamina. And for those curious (ie. those who think the actress is fine as hell), the actress is Gemma Arterton, or as I delightfully discovered was the red-head in the last Bond movie. *drools*

I'm sure it'll be a decent flick and I'm betting I will enjoy it a lot more than any of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies (btw, did you hear they're planning a fourth one?), which I thought all sucked quite hard. I did dig the several homages to the Sands of Time trilogy - especially because we seldom get to see those in a trailer, so hopefully there will be more of those in the movie. Also, I don't feel like much of the story was spoiled, especially not if you've got half a brain to predict the outcome of a Disney movie or the knowledge of any of the games' backstory.

That said, their accents should have all been Persian, and I don't care how terrible of a job they'd have done on those. I'm especially appalled by the horrible out-of-place posh British accent on Farah (presuming they retain the original name for the princess).

QI - "Why Do People Believe All This Stephen??"

Stephen Fry said, of the expenses scandal over here in britain right now, that he doesn't see what all the fuss is about, everyone fiddles their expenses, everyone's a hypocrite.

He went from "awesome" to "stuck up posh toff wanker, sticking up for his posh two faced thieving toff mates" in the space of a few sentences

I suppose it shows how far removed from average life he (and his friends, evidently) are that he thinks everyone gets to claim expenses.. so i can forgive him his ignorance slightly
