Not to mention British, French, Spanish, German and Russian. (Sorry for leaving your country out, all cinema is connected tbh.)

Anyway, love the scene at the end of A Fistful..More where Clint goes around colleting all the dead bodies on his wagon. Its such a great closer. And Good the Bad and the Ugly is epic af, not low budget at all -- it's a dang war film! If you haven't seen these films, at least watch the g, the b, and the u. It's a grand spectacle.

Duck You Sucka footage in there, which is not an Eastwood film, it's about an Irish terrorist's (James Coburn, the guy who got his luggage shot by Mel Gibson in... Cant remember the name of that film) involvement in the Mexican Revolution. The kill count is pretty impressive. Fuckin good movie, from the Once Upon a Time tril.

Doesn't Netflix have Dagon and Necronomicron: Book of the Dead? I looove John Carpenter's Apocalypse Trilogy and The Mist RULES! Frank Darabont has also made many a Stephen King flick (Shawshank especially).

Off the top of my head, I would say HP Lovecraft isn't simply about madness driving horrors, it's biological horror, rather than supernatural. So almost anything by David Cronenberg, a lot of Japanese and Korean film, such as Akira, Uzemaki, The Ring movies, (which is based upon a Japanese folklore, but in modern times became biological horror, the Ring is actually a hybrid biological, technological virus), etc.

Also, the Matthew McCant-spell-his-last-name's True Detective breeches the Lovecraftian realm on a subtle and then not so subtle way in the end, such as the concept of "black stars" in a constant daytime of white background. I would say it's pre-Lovecraftian mythos from authors in the 1800s writing nihilistic almost biological horror, more just heavy uncomfortable writing. I can't recall the primary author who inspired Lovecraft beyond Bram Stoker's The Lair of the White Worm.

Anyway. I love horror, thrillers, suspense, nihilism, pulp and gothic literature.

The biggest question that Japanese television leaves in my head is, why would anyone ever want to appear in one? It's not like they offer great prizes to the winners. The only prize I've ever seen is not being humiliated. And you can have that experience simply by staying home, or doing pretty much anything else.

Fortunately, a western adaptation will also tone down any kindergarten up-skirt tee hee, if present. Hard core Japanese anime isn't necessarily all good.

I think the fact that they're Japanese has a *lot* to do with how this played out. I'm not going to claim to be any sort of cultural expert, but I know in general that Japanese culture is wildly different from what we're used to in more Western nations. Pride is huge, as is suppressing emotion. Could easily see this having started as sulking and just continuing out of a sheer inability to admit to a mistake (even indirectly). The wife likely could have talked to him about it and gotten him to speak, but she wouldn't want to hurt his pride or feel as though she's accusing him of anything negative. Don't see anything like this happening in damn near any other society on Earth.

What? Ps3 was good? pfft... all of the games in the series has been shit. However this is loosly based on them, and I have a soft spot for girls in mini skirts wielding big swords so I will wait for the reviews. The demo has been released but won't be able to tell how tactic progression works or if the game plays the same from the first fight to the last until the final is reviewed. It is on my list of games I am interested in for 2017 which is filled with many Japanese releases, hopefully they actually come out. Right now my one and only ps4 game that I had interest in getting is FF15. I have a gaming pc for everything else that came out.

I assume there had to have been at least a few Japanese who saw the original version then not long after traveled to the US and watched our bastardized interpretation. Wonder whether they would have been more upset or confused...
