During the Vietnam War, Cronkite was responsible for a massive disinformation campaign to turn America’s victories into defeats (the Tet Offensive) and fabricate out of whole cloth Viet Cong victories that were used to demoralize the American public. He should be remembered as one of the great traitors of American history, right there along with Benedict Arnold.

He was worse than Arnold because he was lying to so many more people. Good riddance to him. He can spend his time now in hell with Robert Strange McNamara.

Walter Cronkite betrayed every one of the 58,000 men who died in Viet Nam. He betrayed every man and woman wounded in Viet Nam. He betrayed every man and woman who served in Viet Nam and he betrayed the people of South Vietnam. He stabbed the Viet Nam vet in the back.

Cronkite went to Hue during Tet '68 fairly late in the battle and saw what he wanted to see, but refused an invitation to see the massacred victims the communists had killed and tossed in a mass grave. He chose the side of the enemy and his reports of lies affected his buddy LBJ in his decision making as well.

When LBJ heard of Cronkite’s comments, he was quoted as saying, “That’s it. If I’ve lost Cronkite, I’ve lost middle America.”

Cronkite was a self-serving bastard.

Sarah Palin is one of those people who thinks their shit smells like cinnamon rolls. In her mind she can't do anything wrong, which I kind of admire cause I'm the exact opposite. However as a public figure and servant of the people its an awful attitude to have, good riddance to her. I hope this move keeps her in the realm of the bat-shit insane politicians; the ones nobody respects regardless of their party affiliation and are only good for a few laughs.

As for the actual reasons I can think of a few.
1.A new scandal is brewing ans she's trying to avoid it, (probably the most popular at the moment).
2.She some how thinks this will help her run for president in 2012.
3.She sees Alaska going down the crapper and is trying to get out before the blame can be pinned on her.
4. She's afraid of getting crushed in the next gubernatorial election, (I understand Alaskans are none too happy with her at the moment)

Oh don't you all know that this is all the fault of that god damned liberal media!

If they'd just left her alone and not dug up all her glaring flaws, hypocritical bullshit, and complete ineptitude, none of this would be happening.

And if that child rapist David Letterman had just kept his mouth shut she wouldn't be having to do this.

Good riddance. Being a paleontologist, I appreciate life as much as anyone else, but you know what? Screw em! In the 3.5 billion year history of life on this planet untold, countless number of species have come and gone through natural selection. If the lice can't adapt to our lifestyle changes then that is their problem, and thankfully not ours anymore. This is not a case of extinction through negligence, or or the misapplication of industrial or scientific knowledge. This is simply habitat destruction through good hygiene, and last I checked good hygiene was NOT a crime against anything. A pin on a cork board is about the only place I hope to ever see one of those things.

It's pretty interesting to see the physical media rental industry coming to a close. When Netflix started it was a popular fad that before too long started seeing a bit of financial trouble. At the time I found myself figuring Netflix was an experiment that would fail and video rental stores would never go away. (In the early days of iTunes I also couldn't imagine people giving up on owning the physical property of music CDs to trade it for worthless, intangible electronic music files.)

Now here we are just a few years later and we're actually witnessing the vanishing of video rentals for the interim of rental-by-mail, which will be a placeholder as the real future of electronic delivery becomes king.

There will probably remain mom & pop video rental shops to serve small and/or poor communities where high speed Internet isn't very common, but it's quite interesting to be here on the brink of a new age.

Good riddance. Poor selections, poor employee attitude, poor business model.

Good riddance. The writing has been on the wall for years that home video rental is a twilight industry. Blockbuster didn't adapt in time and continued to gorge itself on punitive late fees. They will not be missed.
