METALLICA - Nothing Else Matters Acoustic Cover

AeroMechanical says...

So, I've come to accept the fact that I am now hopelessly generation-gapped, but I'm getting the impression that heavy metal (in all its variations) is the most popular of the non-pop/hip-hop genres. I seem to run into a lot of people who I would never guess are into metal that are all about it. Even though personally I only kind of tangentially appreciate heavy metal, I definitely approve of the current situation if I'm correct.

If They Were Smart

The biggest fail in this video is the bit at the end where the guy says "lol" aloud, actually meaning it with no sense of irony, and thus demonstrating that while perhaps logically understanding the concept of humor, he does not actually possess human emotions.

Or have I just been generation gapped? Is it now acceptable to just say "lol" instead of smiling and faking a half-laugh when you need to politely acknowledge someone has done or said something intended to be funny but that hasn't actually moved you to laughter?

If you are a true korean like you say, prove it by writing your blogs in said language. Traitor!

JK! Great first bloggety blog, legacy! I do relate with a lot of the things you mentioned, even though I was born in America. The generational gap is hard enough to deal with, and then we have to also grapple with a bit of an identity crisis, culture clash, stupid bigotry, prejudice and stereotyping, etc. etc. I think we have a lot to talk about with our experiences of being asian minorities in America.

The Living End - Prisoner Of Society

MrFisk says...

Well we don't need no one to tell us what to do
Oh yes we're on our own
And theres nothing you can do
So we don't need no one like you
To tell us what to do

We don't refer to the past
When showing what we've done
Our generation gap
Means the war is never won
The past is in your head
THE FUTURE'S IN OUR HANDS!

Cos I'm a brat
And I know everything
And I talk back
Cos I'm not listening
To anything you say

And if you count to 3 (one, two, three)
You'll see it's no emergency
You'll see I'm not the enemy
Just a Prisoner of Society

Well we don't need no one to tell us what to do
Oh yes we're on our own
And theres nothing you can do
So we don't need no one like you
To tell us what to do

Cos I'm a brat
And I know everything
And I talk back
Cos I'm not listening
To anything you say

And if you count to 3 (one, two, three)
You'll see it's no emergency
You'll see I'm not the enemy
Just a Prisoner of Society

(GO!)

I really wish that the purity of this song was never sullied with the overlayed lyrics. My seven year old like this version better. There's the generation gap for you.

Yeah, that rap ruins it.

Ahh, there's a bunch of grand daughters who love their grandma... What generation gap?

Great stuff.

This is actually quite a fascinating insight as to these two's hang ups.

He is obviously a bit homophobic, as the mention of the word penis or pictures of penises disgust him (I found the pictures of the penises hilarious). She shows how out of touch she is with not even knowing what a blowjob is.

They both have a hard time getting past the language.

It's a generational gap at its finest.

Myself... I only just watched the film yesterday and found it to be almost unbearably cringy at times just through sheer embarrassment, but then hilarious in other parts.

And overall it is like his other films, it's sweet at its core, a real John Hughes of today.

Really now.. did we expect anything less from Faux News?

Are we tired of the media trivializing a valid candidate and calling Constitutional adherance and a sound monetary system "funny little ideas" yet?

Wasn't it quaint how they all would continually try to slam him for suggesting that the reason 9/11 happened was what the CIA and 9/11 Commission report concluded while suggesting that this concept was of his own concept?

With the infomation age at it's pinnacle of this generation gap, one has to wonder just how many people will still buy into the lies of the mainstream media and be suckered into the steering of public opinion with corporate blinders still being held on by the classic spoon-fed medium of deceit and product placement complete with the engine of psychoanalytic strategium for an unpublicized agenda by a small group of extremely rich men.

The Day They Kicked God out of the Schools

bigbikeman says...

"Liberal hippie spawn are now The Establishment and conservatives are now the rebels."

Grouchy old men have been saying much the same generation-gap after generation-gap for millennia....your forefathers would say the same about your generation, and further back, they'd be thoroughly shocked and offended at all of us. The only concept most self-named "conservatives" are rebelling against is progress. Why? Because they fear change, usually because they are just stuck in their bygone heyday when the world was their oyster, and most of the societal rules made sense to them. Boo-hoo.

It matters not, the Wheel grinds forward over the bones of those unable to adapt.
