Uh oh….don is going to have to explain why he’s illegally threatening the president with death, a violation of his bail in every trial he’s facing and a slap in the face to his own security detail, and why he’s continuing to threaten the judges daughter despite the updated gag order on Monday specifically precluding him from attacking family members.
It better be a good explanation or it could be prison time or at a minimum a total gag order, no statements at all, no “truths”, and none by his staff.

BTW - despite maga “lawyers” claiming it is, gag orders are NOT violations of first amendment rights, they are a voluntary but binding agreement a defendant makes as a condition of pre trial release, something they have no right to.

Bonus - with abortion rights on the ballot in Florida and 70% in favor of abortion rights, it becomes a swing state likely to turn blue. All democrats have to do is remind the public how many rights the right is stripping from them and who is fighting to preserve them. 😂
And Arizona just put Abortion rights on the ballot too, handing most of Arizona to Democrats.

So much for your claims they were unarmed, as if that hadn’t already been proven false time and time again.

As far as the campaign of terror, I agree that it sucks and they shouldn't be subjected to it in a perfect world.

This isn't that world. Sadly, from a legal standpoint, any action taken against the people exercising their first amendment rights would likely result in lawsuits. I can't speak to whether the school, law enforcement, or the mayor issued statements denouncing this because I couldn't find if they did. They should have and would have been legally within their rights to do so, but beyond that they CAN DO NOTHING.

How dare those millions of citizens use decades old (but still current) NRA tactics of threats to boycott companies that support what they find distasteful against the NRA. That's just not fair. Only the NRA is allowed to 'actively restrict his first amendment right' to have a privately owned platform forced to be a vehicle for their message. Those citizen should be forced to be customers of any NRA affiliated business or be arrested.

Meh, I don't think states should fly it, but I will defend to the last an individual's right to fly it if they choose to do so. I don't have to agree with them, but I would still defend it. Trying to shove people's first amendment rights down the gutter of political correctness has done nothing to help us. If anything it has made it harder to identify the crazy people.

I didn't say that he didn't do anything wrong. But just because he arrested someone who was later released or found innocent doesn't mean that he's abusing his power or the person that he arrested. I also did not claim that the men were endangering the public, I just noted that their freedom of speech was not without limit. And that's not a Twain quote.

Hyperbole is "obvious and intentional exaggeration" and is exactly the word that I meant to use. I take it that your reference to the 14th amendment refers to section 1, specifically "No State shall... enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law..." Are you suggesting that due process was not followed? The officer gave what he believed was a lawful order. The order wasn't followed, so he made an arrest. It's possible that the officer is incorrect, but as long as he gets a fair trail then due process has been followed. As for the 8th Amendment... cruel and unusual punishment? Hyperbole indeed.

At least one of them (possible both) were supposedly NBC affiliated journalist/cameramen. Msnbc has had this video on the front page for most of the day - though the one there now is a much shorter and heavily edited version than the one originally linked here. I wish they would have kept the longer one up.

Hyperbole is the use of exaggeration as a rhetorical device or figure of speech. It may be used to evoke strong feelings or to create a strong impression, but is not meant to be taken literally.


-- I meant Police Abuse tag in a purely literal sense. If you don't think clear violations of the 14th and 8th amendments warrant the Police Abuse tag then I don't think I could ever convince you how grievous of a violation you just witnessed.

These guys were lucky that they were backed up by their news organizations and that others were filming the event.

PS: I do taxes for a living. I have done more than one tax return for "middle class" folks who had up to $70,000 in taxable income who paid ZERO TAX. I am perfectly fine with those folks paying more taxes. Doesn't bother me a bit.
