THE BATMAN – Main Trailer

cloudballoon says...

This should be great as long as it's not another reboot/origin Batman as it's co-written & directed by Reeves. I LOVE the 2011 PotA franchise, so I'm a lot of trust in Reeves' directing. However, if it's another reboot, then I'm not that excited. Looking at the trailer, it seems more like a reboot than not... so, fingers crossed.

My questions to movie franchises are alway, "is a reboot necessary? Even if the main characters went off screen for a few years/decade? If you're not doing a justifiably different interpretation of a character (comedy Batman to Dark Knight Batman), why not build on previous works?"

The Sony-to-MCU Spidies were still the same Spidey in character at the end of the day after 3 actors playing it. It didn't need those reboots but did, and the origin films were boring.

The Matrix Resurrections – Trailer

Free Guy | Official Trailer

wraith says...

Stream of conciousness;

Oh another Superhero Movie ..... oh wait .... THIS does look different ... and even more boring!

It feels like 1/10 the Dark Knight, 1/5 Deapool, 1/1 Wreck It Ralph and 12/3 Ready Player One thrown together. And yeah I know that it is basically just a movie about GTA/Saint's Row.

Man I can't even remember when a trailer really really made me want to NOT watch a movie, like this one.

This trailer gives me the feeling that someone thought that every, run of the mill superhero/videogame-movie will get edgy if it stars Ryan Reynolds. This shows me two things: Hoolywood is stupd (who would have thought) and Ryan Reynolds was succesful in making you all forget Green Lantern. ;-)

TITANS - Official Trailer - DC Universe

Mordhaus says...

This looks like a hot mess. The most popular versions of the Teen Titans have always been light-hearted and this looks like DCU's typical 'Let's make everything Dark Knight like'.

It might gain a following since it is on TV, but I don't see this lasting very long.

Ricky Gervais - The Unbelievers Interview

ChaosEngine says...

I agree with every point made here... and 5, maybe 10 years ago, I would happily engage in refuting any argument for god.

But it feels like society has gone backward since then.

OF COURSE, there's no god. There's no Santa, there's no tooth fairy and there's no Zeus. Thor was in an awesome movie, but so was fucking Batman (to be clear, I'm talking about the Dark Knight, not that DCEU shite). Doesn't make either of them real.

We've all made all the same logical coherent arguments for atheism, but at this stage it's so blindingly obvious, it's ... boring.

Is there a possibility of god? Uh, fine, I guess... but it's about as likely as me being the reincarnation of Elvis.

At this stage, I no longer have the energy or the motivation to debate people who still believe. Wanna believe in god? Eh, knock yourself out, as long as you don't try to push your fairytales onto my life or the lives of others, I really don't care anymore....

Fascinating History Of Wonder Woman: kaptainkristian

ChaosEngine says...

Well, the comic it comes from (The Dark Knight Strikes Back) is widely regarded as a bit of a mess (the art is pretty terrible and the story is all over the place). Shame, since it's a sequel to one of the most important graphic novels ever (The Dark Knight Returns).

And then there's the Goddamn Batman.

Basically, Miller is insane.

That seems a bit much for comic books but i have no clue "how real" comic books get as i don't read them.

I don't see that as someone being raped. I think it's more someone who wants to feel dominated. There is quite a market for very powerful people paying good money to be dominated. I've had a friend or two (strong females) who have talked about wanting/enjoying being dominated by lovers. In the real world people don't enjoy being raped but many powerful people get off on being dominated/controlled so i tend to see it from that perspective as it seems more realistic. Although I can see how it could be seen as rape. Hard to know for sure without more background info.

However still seems odd for a comic book.

Curious if Miller has said anything regarding this?

Curious if Miller has said anything regarding this? I did a quick google and didn't find anything on the implication that Superman raped Wonder Woman.
"In Frank Miller’s Batman: The Dark Knight Strikes Again, which also takes place in the future, Clark and Diana had a superpowered daughter called Lara, after Superman’s Kryptonian mother, whom they protected from the government. In typical Miller style, the relationship was memorably… intense:" http://comicsalliance.com/the-many-loves-of-wonder-woman-steve-trevor-nemesis-batman-superman-romance/

Anyway just my two cents

And then there was the time that Frank Miller implied Superman raped Wonder Woman.... and she was ok with it.

"Where is the HERO who threw me to the GROUND and TOOK me as his rightful PRIZE?" (Miller's emphasis, not mine).

Ugggh, fucking really? I know she was into bondage and all, but I think that's taking it a bit far

WONDER WOMAN - Official Trailer: It begins with her.

JustSaying says...

I really hope DC can turn this one into a good film for a change.
The last decent DC movie was Dark Knight Rises and even that has huge story problems.
Their TV stuff is much above what they do on the big screen.

Epic Rap Battles of History: James Bond vs Austin Powers

eric3579 says...

Deadpool is my favorite Batman

Last time I really enjoyed Batman was when Adam West was Batman. I'm old.

Although i did dig the artwork in Frank Millers, The Dark Knight Returns. So, whoever that Batman was. Matter of fact i still have 4 untouched sets of that comic book series in a box somewhere.

Not the answer you were looking for. I know, i'm a disappointment

Before I do that, I need to know your favourite Batman too. May God forgive you if it's Clooney, because I won't!

Batman - Evolving The Legend

Batman the Animated Series is the first TV show I ever bought the DVDs for. It's the definitive Batman to me. The animated movies are great too, like Under The Red Hood, The Dark Knight Returns, and Mask of the Phantasm.

The Best and Worst Movies of 2014 (Cinema Talk Post)

ChaosEngine says...

Oh man, there was some really cool and interesting stuff there.

And then .... Interstellar?? I'm with you on Nolan; I think he's great. I loved Inception, The Prestige, Insomnia, Memento. I even think The Dark Knight Rises is unfairly maligned (it's not as good as The Dark Knight, but it was never going to be).

But Interstellar was terrible... IMO his worst movie. It squanders a great premise and some amazing visuals on a story that's all over the place.

Put it this way, Prometheus was the closest I've ever come to walking out of a movie. Its stupidity was just offensive. By the end I was rooting for the alien, the rolling spaceship, anything to kill the main characters and end its god-awfulness. But by the end of Interstellar, I was just bored.

It's certainly not the worst movie of 2014, but it was the biggest disappointment for me.

Oh, and any top 10 of 2014 that doesn't include the Lego Movie is missing its soul
