Grunting Tennis Players: Illegal or Annoying?

Why Dave Chappelle Quit Illuminati

ex-jedi says...

I'm Black and I don't have much interest in where my ancestors came from. My brother & sisters don't either (& I mean my actual brother & sisters). I can't think of any of my black friends who have any interest in a pilgrimage to their homeland. Some of them pop back to see the relatives sometimes, but that's about it.

However if I go to any big city over here in Europe it's brimming with, mainly American, people who've come to the old country to trace their roots. And I've met people of many shades and nationalities who've arrived here to do that. It's not the bastion of any one race. Don't take a common human impulse you've observed in people who by coincidence are black and tag it to them alone to form part of a 'but black people is weird innit' narrative. This kind of thing makes me sleepy.

A question that always bothered me and that has almost nothing to do with this video: Why do so many African Americans think they have to go to Africa to find their roots? In Europe, in all countries except France, 99% of African people are really first or second generation immigrants from one of the dozens of Nations in Africa.
They have relatives living there.
I understand that.
African Americans have their roots as much in "Africa", as I have my roots in....I don't even know...Germany? France? Russia? Hungary?
I don't even know where my ancestors lived three hundred years ago.
And I don't care.
I don't get it.

Should videosift.com help fight SOPA by going black on 1/18/12??? (User Poll by JiggaJonson)

Personally I don't see VS going down affecting much of anything beyond those of us who practically live here. Even so OWS was only a few people at some point and even 1 more person makes a larger crowd than before even if nobody notices them and all they do is add to the size of the group and thus the size of the message. So as much as I will miss this bastion of sanity and fun I call VS.... DO IT! It's one day now vs the distinct possibility of every day and always later on.

I was thinking, though, that perhaps going offline instead of providing some "education" or "food for thought" interaction misses out on an opportunity. For instance, a sit in only works because you are visible, yet passive. Turning yourself off, with no real educational factor, just looks like downtime or some technical fault. Like, for instance, when the Amazon server cloud "failed" causing massive startup level net stuff to go offline. And while it affected huge portions of the web, to the lay person, it just seemed like a few of the sites they visited weren't working. In other words, a black out or whatever it decided on happening needs to be something that talks to the layperson on his level, not our level.

What do you think @dag, would we be shooting ourselves in the foot with something like this? Like blowing up Yavin base ourselves in protest of the deathstar?

At least when the Mr Plinket reviews rip apart movies I like (like the Next Gen Star Trek movies and Ep 2 and 3) they're entertaining and rather pertinent. Yahtzee just nitpicks about inconsequential things the whole time, rarely saying anything of any worth and in the end comes across as an over opinionated dick (even when I agree with him), which wouldn't be so bad if it was just an online persona, and not his actual personality.
After watching a Plinket review: "Ha ha ha! You know you're right, but I'll still watch them. Is that the time? Man that review was long."
After watching a Yahtzee review: "We get it, you dislike brown and anything not Silent Hill 2, Portal or Sands of Time."
I think the initial appeal from the first several videos has long since worn off me.

I agree he nitpicks but I've wanted to say this to someone all day. Fuck Off.

Then at least never let yourself succumb to using phrases like "fag" and "noob". This is the one bastion on the internet free of such "discourse"

Ann Coulter Calls Kindergarten Teachers ‘Useless’

Yogi says...

>> ^blankfist:

My kindergarten teacher sucked and she enjoyed doling out the spankings too much. We spent the year playing with plastic bears and drawing with crayons and getting spankings and fucking around on the playground. It was fine as something to do to stay busy as a kid, but the bastion of educational advancement it was not. Just sayin'.
I bet if I went to a better school, my opinion would've been different. I didn't have that option.

Charter Schools are obviously the answer then, because your experience is the same as everyones ever. Perhaps you didn't realize you were learning...because it was FUCKING Kindergarten and you don't remember shit about it.
