Its so weird running into someone else who plays League too, I tell people I play videogames all the time and they always think that's going to be a good conversation piece but it ends up sounding something like they'll start clambering on about God of War or Grand Theft Auto, and I meekly say "Uhh ever heard of League of Legends?" no "Vindictus?" no "Battlefield Bad Company?" Ehhh I've heard of it "COD Black ops?" OH YEAH I ROCK AT THAT ON 360!!! Oh ...PC? Like a computer game???

But yeah I'd love to find some fresh blood to play with, my usual crowd has turned into rageaholics. Drop me vent info in sift post or just friend me on LoL, same screen name: Jiggajonson

30 Years of First-person and First-person shooter

Frankly, I think GoldenEye, Quake 2, Soldier of Fortune, Call of Duty, ArmA2, & Bad Company 2 should be off the list. Not because I think they were bad but because they didn't really bring anything to the table. Maybe Q3, too.

Unintended Consequences

Yeah his voice is obnoxious. And the editing and sound effects are the usual manipulative crap. The only thing missing is the mushroom cloud at the finale. Or was it there, I stopped watching before the end.

However, the message for the cars is completely true. I am not a wealthy person, so fluctuations in used car parts is a real pain for me...and it has been noticeable. Even moreso since many of the components I have needed of late have been engine related.
>> ^handmethekeysyou:

I almost upvoted this video after the beginning sequence.
But after the narrator's obnoxious tone, and then specifically the line, "but this government misallocation of money and resources always[emphasis mine] leads to unintended consequences," I stopped watching.
Always? Now there are a few ways of interpreting this sentences. First would be that when the government misallocates money and resources, there are unintended consequences. I won't disagree with that semantically, but if that's what he's saying, does it really need to be said? When the government screws up, it screws up. The first rule of Tautology Club is the first rule of Tautology Club.
A second interpretation is that government policy always misallocates money and resources & there are always, without fail, unintended consequences. Well, now I'll disagree semantically. Saying that all policy misallocates $$ & resources is ludicrous. If the video is going to talk about the fact that in all policy, there is always some money misused, that sounds interesting and is a worthwhile, constructive criticism. But something in those ominous clouds composited behind the Capitol Building tells me this isn't going to be an objective, in-depth look at government spending.
I suppose this video is 10 minutes of cherry-picked policies that the government screwed up. I'd love to watch and get worked up about it, but now I know it would just be anti-government propaganda.
...
I decided to watch some of it since maybe it was unfair to rail on it so hard after only a minute. Things that struck me:
- Use of Uncle Sam to suggest overbearing government propaganda. Video then proceeds to lay the propaganda on heavier than a North Korean campaign to get you to trim your hair. People in the streets, in photo negative! Capitol building with dollar signs coming out it, heading right for the lens, in photo negative! How about you composite some more shots over other shots to make this all seem so overwhelming? I think there was a full 5 seconds in there without a single hit or sting. I was bored and not emotionally outraged during those 5 seconds. Please reedit to fix.
- You're going to argue against "regulations" at large? All regulation is hurting me, the consumer, the citizen? [Regulating the amount of lead in my paint ultimately costs me more money, which means I can't provide as well for my children, who are currently eating paint chips.] Strange that he doesn't name a single specific regulation. Though it's actually nice. It saves me from having to think. Now I know, regulation=bad, and I don't need to worry my pretty little head about the whys and hows of it all.
- Nor does he explain the line "We have recently seen that sometimes it's the regulator that keeps bad businesses in business." Ok, sometimes that happens...like, when? Oh, I don't actually know any examples, just sometimes it happens. I can't wait to put on a smug expression of intellectual superiority after I wow the crowd at my next cocktail party when I pull this nugget out.
- During the regulation bit, he does relate that we're paying a "regulation tax" that's priced into my health insurance, shoes, clothing [shoes aren't clothing?], food, cars, homes, and pretty much anything I buy. I hate taxes! I buy at least 3 of those things! [So what?] So...I hate regulations! Which regulations do I hate again? [Not sure.] All of them! [Did I mention this is propaganda?]
I stopped after the regulations part [can you tell I didn't like that bit?]. I have no conclusive paragraph to sum everything up. This video is terrible and offensive.

There are many examples of bad companies staying in power because of using the power of law to enforce their agenda. For instance, the enjoyed legal monopoly of most telco and cable companies. Or, the higher prices Americans pay for sugar because of import tariffs on sugar. And thusly making corn sugar, its unhealthier cousin, the mainstay of American diets. Or, the corn subsidy that makes corn feeding beef more economical, even though it causes ecoli to then be produced by said cattle; this all benefits fast food industries to the defiant of us all. Or minimum wage, it necessarily raises unemployment by denying low skilled workers access to market priced labor; this protects high skilled labor from ever being found wanting for lower priced labor mainly benefiting large union positions, while relegating to perpetual unemployment/illegal employment a low skilled migrant worker.

But I admit, there needed to be more examples and less dogma in the video.

Zero Punctuation: Call of Duty: Black Ops

My_design says...

What multiplayer? Seriously, the game has little to no actual team dynamics. A single high level, experienced player can impact an entire round and go 33 and 7 for a kill/death ratio. And don't even get me started on the servers. I spend more time migrating servers than playing the frickin' game. All in all I completely fail to understand the hype for this game. I do really like the player customization, but for a multiplayer experience, give me Bad Company 2.

.50 Cal Sniper vs Watermelon (OMFG Edition)

sixshot says...

I'm also wondering how this can be real because the 50cal rounds are very rarely used in rifles. Though I may be incorrect in this sense, I have never seen an old-fashion-designed and styled 50cal bolt-action rifle like the one this guy has. There are 2 50 cal sniper rifles that I know of... the Barrett M82A1 rifle is one I learned of some time ago to be an anti-device rifle, used for picking off devices from long range. The other is popularized by various video games like BF2, CoD4, MW2, and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 -- the M95.

To add also into the doubting mix is the fact that a youngster like him would be holding a weapon that can FIRE a 50cal round. I won't be surprised by people holding something that can fire NATO rounds. But a rifle that fires a 50cal? Sorry, my expectations for those capable of firing a 50cal round from a rifle is someone in uniform and one who has had years of marksman training.

Alien Swarm : New, kick ass free game from Valve

westy says...

The price of AAA games on steam that are not vlave are a total joke , i dont see how you can defend it.

last game i bought bad company 2 , steam price £29.99 amazon with free 3 day delivery £15 , play.com allso had it for free 3 day delivery for £15 , games satay at full retail price for longer on steam , and u dont have the advantage of trading it in if you stop playing the game + as you say no manual.

If you preorder on amazon its poasted out so it arives on relase day , and often arives day before.

It only anoys me because i would rather use steam , i allso know its largely due to publishers forcing that price on steam. another thing thats shit is that you buy a game on steam thinking steam will auto update it and all the bullshit coppy protection will be handled by steam but often thats not the case and u still have to manual patch or sign up to exsternal websites and make acvcounts for games. the New IL2 game was a compleat farce and arma 2 took a good 4 months before you could patch it with steam.

I think Valve are now in a positoin to say to publishers , "u need to have it at x price or we wont host it " and allso force them to acomidate the steam network if they want there game on it.

I have used steam since first beta came out and its gr8 for all the valve and hl stuff , patching HL1 to play dod and cs1.4 was a total ball pain and steam fixed that (lol patch 501015-50102 then patch 50192-2304).

evan if this game is good ,
steem is still flawed
Im the typ of person that would buy all my games on steam , I have maby 20 steam games as it is , mostly valve games but maby 5 non valve games. The big problem with steam are the prices for this reasoin i have bought my last 4 games from amazon , play.com game and game station. There is something realy wrong if you can pick up a game cheeper from bricks and morter . (steam prices r only good for old games or valve games when they promote them)
Another seperate issue i have with steem and valve is that the games seem to be more and more like console games , in game play and design , I have nothing against console games but i have a 360 to play console games on , with my pc i prefer games that are more saphisticated.
In some ways steem is gr8 id much rather have a company like valve do Digital distrabutoin than say EA or some random allso there promoting and pushing indi games is nice. I just think with some small changes it could be super amazing rather than just another way to get games.

Steam is not really flawed. Just because you might be able to get a slightly better price on Amazon does not take into account the full situation. With Amazon, you have to pay for the shipping. Not to mention waiting. It isn't so bad if you have an Amazon Prime account, but then you are paying more anyway so it doesn't matter. Plus, you can pre-load most games on Steam when they are first released, meaning the day before you can have it installed and ready to go, then the next morning just start up Steam and have at it.
Plus, with game stores like Gamestop and such, you have to drive their, find the game, check out, and drive back, probably for the same price as it was on Steam.

The only thing I don't like about the Steam digital distribution is lack of manuals are other box content that comes with retail store purchases.
As for games becoming more "consolized", that is the developer's fault, not Steam's. Besides, there are plenty of sophisticated PC games on Steam, you just have to weed out the bad ones.
In fact, the deals Steam hosts almost 24/7/365 are incredible. They gave out Portal for free, this for free. 600 games under $10. 180 under $5. I mean, the THQ pack alone is about 5 years worth of games for like $20.

Edit: Unfortunately the THQ pack is no longer on sale, it is back to $99. That was a steal while it was cheap, though.

Beta wasn't bad, but no prone?

meh, prone is over-rated. i only used it in previous BF games when going AFK to grab a drink. it also prevents dolphin-diving.

So fix the dolphin-diving. Make the player tired for doing too much.
