60 Minutes Interview with Julian Assange

bobknight33 says...

I agree. I also watched this last night on 60 minutes. I do not see why the press is not more sympathetic with his cause.

I for one can not see Asange being in trouble for his actions. The "Pentagon pagers" event from the early 70s is the same thing. that ended up at the Supreme court.

From Wikipedia

"On June 30, 1971, the Supreme Court decided, 6–3, that the government failed to meet the heavy burden of proof required for prior restraint injunction. The nine justices wrote nine opinions disagreeing on significant, substantive matters.
Only a free and unrestrained press can effectively expose deception in government. And paramount among the responsibilities of a free press is the duty to prevent any part of the government from deceiving the people and sending them off to distant lands to die of foreign fevers and foreign shot and shell.

Edited or not, I watched this last night and thought that Assange carried himself well and had keen, honest responses to each question he was asked. I for one appreciate that there is a venue for those who want to speak out against abuses in organizations who would otherwise not be policed at all.

Works just fine for me. notdead
Is it just the embed or is the video itself not working for you?

Must of been impatient nature I guess. I tried it four times and it did not load, while others had.

Well, it doesn't come up in Google's own search results anymore, the only way to access it appears to be through its docID. Might actually be quite dead, as you said.

Luckily, someone uploaded it to YT as well, so I'm going to replace this one with a YT-playlist, then add this old one as a backup.

CNN fails to comprehend basic concepts of journalism

I say Assange is not guilty. All he did is made public the documents. He did not steal them.

HULU has a documentary on the Pentagon Papers. Titled The most Dangerous man in America.

1971 Daniel Ellsberg, a high-level Pentagon official and Vietnam War strategist, concluded that the war is based on decades of lies and subsequently leaks 7,000 pages of top secret documents to The New York Times.

Your Feelgood/Rabbit Video Of The Day

Seric says...

Via Neatorama: Today, the island is uninhabited, but the remains of the facility buildings, including gas containers and a power plant, are still there.

It is believed that rabbits were first taken to the island in 1971, after an elementary school in Takehara found it difficult to keep the animals at school. According to the Kyukamura Okunoshima resort hotel, most of the visitors to the island consisted of students on school study trips and senior tourists.

However, as the island became known as a rabbit habitat, the hotel began to receive more reservations from young women and families. The rabbits became popular for their adorable gesture asking for food.

Annie Hall
"Just about everyone's favorite Woody Allen movie."

Annie Hall is great (and Walken was great in it), but this clip is from the Anderson Tapes, from 1971. Not sure if you were answering zor's question or just randomly bringing up Annie Hall, but I figured I'd clarify.

If I may, I wonder if you would like this rendition, http://videosift.com/video/A-SONG-FOR-YOU-Leon-Russell-Friends-1971? If you like it I would like to know if you don't mind.

And please, not for vote.
