Should someone start a Technology channel?
As per Dag's suggestion I'm posting a poll to see if others agree we need a Technology channel to cover modern tech, latest developments, talks, reviews etc.
Up to now everything has been lumped into the Geek channel. Geek is great for geeky things e.g people at a Star Wars convention, someone listing their favourite videogames etc etc. Similarly a video showing new research in biology is not really Geek.
Thus when I click Geek I see a far too broad range of material and we need to start filtering.
Vote for the new Technology channel!
(I do not wish to start the channel but I would like to see someone else take on the job)

I wanted to create this channel when I turned ruby, but was overruled that geek covered it... but I share your view that they are indeed different.
While I still have the ability to create a channel... I'm hoping to take over an existing one I have my eye on instead.
Yeah, but wouldn't there be a large overlap with the engineering channel?

No I don't think so. Engineering covers applied tech/science. You might see both labels applied a lot but no different to all the music channels in that way e.g people tagging a video Music and Rock.
Then are other instances where they would be kept apart e.g I'd imagine a software demo would be tagged Tech but rarely Engineering (we don't seem to lump Software Engineering into Engineering).
It's complementary to the other channels, I vote yay!
I vote yay, but I think it could be better to name it "Innovation"-channel for all innovations: This would be mostly of a technical nature, but could also include innovations of other sciences.
Of course I'd be fine with the channel named "Technology"

Ditto. I tried to make a similarly named channel: http://duckman33.videosift.com/member/Duckman33/poll and was also shot down.
Why are we voting on this yet again? funny and this time it is almost overwhelmingly getting approval. Go figure....
Voting for this poll ended with the majority of users voting Yes.
Take over Talks and I'll f**king gut you like a fish!

Let it now be known that the Technology channel can be created by any willing sifter.
