On a China Shopping Binge and Can't Stop
Ever since my husband bought me this lovely starter set of Lenox china for Christmas, I can't stop shopping for china! I have bags of the stuff sitting up against a wall... I don't even have own a china cabinet! We've always been a very informal family.
Winter madness?
This was my Christmas present that started it all.
It's rapidly becoming an addiction! I can't stop browsing antique shops, I've had shippments from Amazon and Macy's coming in daily. I've freakin lost my mind.
This my confession and cry for help

Be sure to always keep it in a closet and rationalise that you don't want to use the "good china" on your guests - you're saving that for when the queen of England comes to visit.
I know.. this is a Christmas pattern too.. so we use it what.. once a year? Of course now this means I have to buy another fine china set for the other holidays and special dinners. I've already bought another 'everyday'... I've my eye on some gold plated place settings at an antique shop for a steal. Since it's a set for 12..I'll have to of course up my 8 china set to 12..... aarrrhhhhh.
I'll so be ready for the queen man.

"GOOD LORD WOMAN, GET A HOLD OF YOURSELF!"
Intervention complete. You're welcome.
And people wonder what happened to the AMERICAN MANUFACTURING SECTOR.
LOL, this is totally off-topic, but I have the exact same golden charger set you have there...
I dunno Farhad, they should be happy.. I'm putting them to work. Make more china! Oh, and Lenox is made in the USA.
Laura, they do make the plates look nice. Too bad you can heat them or something.
I've lost my mind.. I'm ebay shopping right now for more. I'm craving the stuff. What's the deal? At least my old Sift habit didn't cost me. well, but the charter....
This has GOT to be winter blues or something.
I get on obsessive kicks like that sometimes. Unfortunately, I must report that the only thing that stops it is running out of money. Sorry!
I know here too. My little next rainy day cash dried up REAL fast.
Hopefully the "Treats" in the red bag in the immediate background were not served on such delicious looking place settings (although I must admit I have never personnally tried them).
For God's sake - don't buy the china cabinet! Then you'll have to fill it. And of course, you'll have to buy the matching buffet, dining table set....
First you're buying the dishes, next thing you know you've moved on to buying Chinese orphans by the barrel. I've seen it a hundred times.

Ah, the bag of "Ole Roy" biscuits. Yeah.. Kinda ruins the presentation doesn't it? I wasn't thinking of cleaning up the background. I just grabbed the camera as soon as I came downstairs and saw it.
I don't see anything wrong with having a hobby or collecting stuff. At least it makes it easier for people to figure out what to get you for holidays!
I used to be obsessed with vintage lunchboxes. I grew out of it, but my kid is going to have some sweet ass containers for PB and Js.
I'm trying to think of how a kid can learn to enjoy fine china..
I have to add that I have an extensive collection of dish sets. It's hard to resist buying them up at the thrift store. I think I could stock a dozen kitchens. Oi. Don't even get me started on my plethora of tea sets!
Well, I'm loving the idea of starting family heirlooms. I have two kids so I should have at least two sets... to hand down one each. I've just never collected anything in my life nice enough for any kids to want to take ya know?

"Kinda ruins the presentation doesn't it?" Nope, in fact, it causes the pictures to be real, and not a prepared scene. Swampgirl ROCKS!! The onl;y thing I resent about this is that I wasn't invited for the gormet event!
Are you kidding me! We didn't actually EAT on them LOL. It sat there looking beautiful for over a week before I boxed them up.
For "Christmas dinner" I cashed in a gift certificate for a Honey Baked Ham, sat it out on the counter, laid out a ton of cheese balls and there. I wasted no time going online to look for more MOARR
I kicked my butt cooking a big Thanksgiving spread.. Christmas day is for playing. Well, now I guess next year they will expect a big spread w/ the good dishes.
I'm so pathetically domestic ha
Pathetically domestic?? Nothing wrong with being domestic at all! Don't we all reside in a domicile, hence we are all domestic?
