How a Storm Triggered a City-Wide Asthma Attack

YouTube: A very weird way a thunderstorm might kill you.

It was certainly big news here the next day! It must have been scary for the people affected, particularly since the ambulance service was completely overwhelmed.

Something else that might have been a factor that Hank didn't mention is that the pollen count had already been very high for a few days before the thunderstorm, so everyone was already primed for it.

I think this is a normal occurrence in Texas in the early summer when grass and tree pollen (especially mesquite, it puts out visible clouds of pollen) are thick and thunderstorms happen almost daily. I had a horrible time with allergies growing up in Houston.
