Yeah it was an epiphany for me one day I was listening to the white album and realized that McCartney's riff and Ringo's beat are used in a lot of punk songs, especially early punk (pixies, the clash, etc.) Not to mention the lyric composition is followed by many So Cal, bands.

The Beatles were so revolutionary in that they literally defined genres for the next 10 years.
