How fracking works

Fairbs says...

Propaganda. It would be nice if it was safe, but it is not. Fracking pollutes water and uses chemicals that pollute the land.

No love for the Bruins? I'm appalled.

I somewhat support the Pats because my dad liked them because Brady is the QB and he went to Michigan and the Lions sucked for so long (yes weird logic). I don't care much for the Sox (or baseball in general) except for when they beat the Yankees.

Why People Doubt Climate Science, And Why Facts Don't Matter

In response to some of his questions at the end, I think a safe start would be to switch to alternative energy sources as a means to improve national security. That answers the question of why to do it. Lessening dependency on foreign oil would decrease being seen as meddlers in foreign lands or intentional meddling as I believe to be the case. In fact, I think we're already seeing this as the price of oil is decreasing. A side effect is that supply may simply shift to say China. If improvements in alternative energy accelerate the examples could be shared world wide. Sadly we'd be so much farther along had Jimmy Carters course not been reversed by reagan.

Note: All of this is speaking from the mindset of a U.S. citizen although I think it would also be true for many other nations.

What are those floaty things in your eye? (TED-Ed lesson)

Fairbs says...

Sorry to hear that. All the time? I take it there's no way to fix? Sounds kind of like some sort of eye trauma.

I got them all 15 years ago when an insanely powerful flash discharged right in front of my eyes. (INSTANT pain ON) Over the next few days my eyes filled with them.

When I look at highly collimated light (like a powerful view in a microscope or telescope) I can see ALLLLL of them swimming in 3D.

A bright sunny day blue sky is like looking through egg whites.

I think there's been studies done that find tap water is generally as good or better than bottled water. People are getting sold on a vision, as well as convenience and the coldness.

Here in BC our water is so ridiculously clean the companies that bottle water barely have to filter it, and if they do, it doesn't do much.

20 Misconceptions About Sex (mental_floss)

Fairbs says...

No scientific basis here, but my explanations would be that the time between a woman 'discovering herself' and marriage is relatively short (generally speaking). So during that time there may be little dittl er... mb and then said woman gets married and eventually gets bored with her partner so the mb rate increases. In the case or the woman who gets married later in life or becomes single again, maybe there's more sex going on due to varied partners so less need to mb. That's my theory at least. I got distracted while watching the video and decided not to watch the rest after seeing all of the comments disputing the facts of the video. Did they say whether married men mb more than single ones?

I must say, I found it odd that (according to his numbers) married women masturbate more than single women....what's up with that?!?
