Long videos: Should pieces be submitted or just the first part? (Sift Talk Post)

looris says...

I'd like to browse videosift without ever having to go to youtube to watch following parts.

Videosift incorporating youtube-like playlists would be good.

Now there's a little design issue: what happens if a new part is created after the video is posted? It would be bad not to have it broadcasted some way.

Ethics during War Time

There isn't an excuse for calling kids you are supposed to be protecting "fuckers". Is there?

They want a pen so they can DRAW STUFF and LEARN THINGS, you know, like they were supposed to be doing 15 minutes after the invasion when the liberators got the power and water working again. Remember?

Sitting around and getting shot at is not easy, but you don't have a choice about being a target, you signed up for the army ffs. Where you DO have a choice is whether or not to film yourself being disrespectful and put it on youtube like some kind of trophy.

Wow, like, hey, they can't understand english! So you curse at them! Nice one! That's gotta relieve the stress, huh? That's so funny the way you take advantage like that! Any idea what they are saying in arabic?

Wow, they beg for food and money. That's gotta be HELLA annoying yeah? Damn, I aint joining the army if you have to deal with kids asking for food all the damn time.

Bottom line... sow the seeds of hate and contempt, and reap a nightmare. One of those kids could be fighting against you in a couple of years.

Still haven't seen one of these videos with a british soldier in it btw...

Joost and Viacom (Sift Talk Post)

Farhad2000 says...

Ah! They still think they can control what the hordes on the Internets do? All it takes for all this for all media companies to unravel is for someone to start a YouTube like service in Russia offering all the clips for free, preferably in HD just to drive them made. The MPAA knows better, they got bled out when they wanted to control the Internetz.

Joost, Audeo, TVExt, WinampTV... Who are these companies kidding honestly? YouTube is market dominant. The only reason they cannot reach on a settlement deal is because they are too scared of piracy, the benefits of online video are not explained to them properly in terms of marketing, and most important they want to control the method in the users watch the content. Because then you can do all kinds of stuff again they can't now because of Tivo, mostly force you to watch advertising.
