Ice Cube - Smoke Some Weed

Compton's Most Wanted - This is Compton

MrFisk says...

Fresh off the streets from the underground
Nick-named MC Eiht, black brother gets down
Came to dazzle with the hip-hop funk
To let em know (This is Compton) Now what's up, punk
Westside rulin all world cause I dump
And the city that I'm from take no shit from a chump
Niggas don't care if their enemy's beefin
Pretty soon it's a homie you're grievin
You entered the criminal zone
If you're just a little punk-ass fool, you should run on home
Try to compare? Get real
I'm from Compton, so you should know the deal
Ballers, skeezers, no age limit matters
Loced-out muthafuckas make the one time scatter
Toe to toe, draw my mic and start dumpin
It's the down MC Eiht, and fool, this is Compton

Another crazy nigga from the city
Chill's from the C-p-t, you got beef? What a pity
I don't play, cause I slay all rap suckers
Down with E, killin rookie muthafuckas
Squabbin in the streets, with the left you fall
Make a right on Alondra, see my name on the wall
Not like the banger, but I bust up
(Any punk-ass fool that'll step up)
So follow me into the zone they call panic
Hubs by the dub, but suckers act frantic
Niggas rollin hard, number one on the pop
Crazy brothers goin out all for the gangbang, stop
Compton is thumpin, suckers we stompin
Rhymes on hit, but they still talk shit
I gives a fuck about a fool who's frontin
They call me Tha Chill, and yo, this is Compton

Compton is the city that I'm claimin
Hardcore fact with the gat, to the punks I start gamin
Devious, so what do you expect?
I'm from the city on missions, and I pop your fuckin neck
People understand what I'm sayin
Talk more shit, I'm on hit, keep the fools all payin
Niggas make the scale when they bail
Police punks talk shit, but you still get out of jail
Eiht represents the place with the bass
The beat you won't beat, you're just a disgrace
Try to be casual, but that shit won't work
Get sweated in a minute, cause they down for the dirt
Maximum capacity, the crowd just jumps
For the rhythm that I give em, make the souls all pump
Energetic, so don't forget it, yeah, the Eiht keeps pumpin
And fool, this is Compton

Punk muthafucka, Tha Chill will destroy ya
With the dope hub style for ya
Bein that you're just another fan on the tip
Get dropped by Eiht, Ant, Bam, and Slip
Suckers better watch out, Chill's here to scrap
As I say it everytime in my muthafuckin rap
Just like a warzone got my territory marked
You be slippin if you're caught in the dark
(Sorry clown) Don't be slippin
Don't go head up with Tha Chill
Cause Chill can kill
I can't stop because the city I'm from
I get too fucked up, and kick the ass of a bum
So if you got static, punk keep frontin
Yo E, they know where the fuck we from...
Yo, this is Compton

Diamond D and the Psychotic Neurotics - Whut U Heard

MrFisk says...

I break shit up so just chill, and sit still
I'm not on the pop hop but yo my shit still
Sells like a mother, there's not another
Dark brown brother who grew up undercover
Running game on a dame like Too $hort
I'll smoke an MC like a Newport
Or a Marlboro, or a Salem
It doesn't matter cause I take him and I wail him
Get a rush of the nicotine, battle?
Nigga please, I won't even attempt
But if the crowd thinks he's a worthy opponent
I'll grab the mic and show I own it
Yo bust it, better off if you not sing, God bless the pothead
As I remember what my moms and my pops said
Strive for the best, you gain your respect
Or you can settle for a public assistance check
If you don't want to break your neck
So I said "What the heck?"
People always say "Hey we like the way you make beats"
He doesn't use breakbeats
But I take it in stride and do my work on the inside
Won't fake on the flimside

From the halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli
My style slams, but some still want to get with me
I don't understand, kid you just can't see me
When my LP drop all my friends will want a freebie
Whether in a car or you ride the train
My style stands out like a vericose vein
So don't front cause you know I'm the champ
Better off trying to buy a pack of Newports with a food stamp
Cause the odds are none
Cause like Jimmy Castor, I've just begun
Brothers can't believe how the skills have gotten
Spicy as a steak with potatoes au gratin
But I'm not soup, I just got a lot of nerve
Cause motherfuckers want to see me shoot to the curve
But I just won't slip cause a slip ain't hip
I stay on my toe like Broadway Joe
One time I did I thought the girl was a friend of me
So I started sleeping with the enemy
I won't let a stunt misguide me
And you can jump on my tree stump if you want to ride me

See like hotcakes, people have prostate cancer of the liver
Yo, cause I deliver
Legt new shit that hits like a mule kick
Don't try to flip, moneygrip, or you'll get
A very swift kick in the anus, yeah
Homeboy, I'll make you famous
As a young buck people used to call me shorty
When I was broke I used to chip in for forties
But there's no retreat or surrender
And my pockets stay stuffed with legal tender
So give a shout if you with me (Yeah!)
Give a shout if you with me (Yeah!)
So give a shout and let me know if you like the way the flow, goes
And yo, does it matter on the FDR or the Westside
People contemplate what's the best side
But I sit back and observe like a Bhuddist monk
Cause Diamond gots spunk
For the new generation like Pepsi
I'll make your grandmother say "Heavens to Betsy"

Ya ask ya'self
Will it eva cease?
'Cause Diamond's sharp as a crease
I only use bees wax, I'll neva use grease
On my dreads but instead if you want some kicks
Step to the mic I'm an 8 to 1 pick
You reap what you sow and I can reap it
Yo I'm the best kept secret

Kermit the Frog - Hurt

pho3n1x says...

I was gonna jump all over the comment that Cash wrote this song, but apparently it's already been done, and is an old comment. but just for clarification:

Nine Inch Nails (Trent Reznor) written in 1994. Released on Downward Spiral.
Johnny Cash covered in 2002. Released on American IV: The Man Comes Around.

Reznor is most definitely the author of this song, and Cash is not the first to cover it either.

Tori Amos frequently sang three or four lines of the song as an introduction to other songs during her Dew Drop Inn tour in 1996, most frequently "Caught a Lite Sneeze", and then again in 1998, as an improvisational bridge.
Breaking Benjamin
Sheryl Crow covered the Cash version on the television special Tribute to Johnny Cash.
Fightstar
Matthew Good, acoustic tour 2006.
Gregorian arranged the lyrics into a medieval Gregorian chant.
Kermit the Frog is featured in an unauthorized parody called "Sad Kermit".
Aaron Lewis of Staind covered the song during his 2007 Have Guitar, Will Travel solo acoustic tour.
Luna Amara
Jeff Martin
Montezuma's Revenge
Placebo, at the House of Blues in California in 2003.
Damien Rice, by inserting lyrics from the song into his live performances.
Underoath played it acoustic live
Sevendust did a cover as a tribute to Johnny Cash.
Howard Stern had his own version for his show, called "Private Hurt". He played the song while mixing in sound clips from his film Private Parts.
Westside Connection sampled the main riff for their song "The Gangsta The Killa and The Dope Dealer".

"My Fair Lady"- "Show Me" Audrey Hepburn singing (1964)

therealblankman says...

Definitely NOT Audrey Hepburn singing. Audrey Hepburn was a superb actress, and one of the most beautiful women, perhaps ever, but she had a notorious tin ear and limited singing range. If you really want to hear her singing, listen to "Moon River" from Breakfast at Tiffany's. Blake Edwards wrote that song specially for her, and kept the range to basically one octave.

The singer you hear here is Ms. Marni Nixon, see her IMDB entry here... http://imdb.com/name/nm0633262/.

Ms. Nixon, in addition to providing the singing voice for Audrey Hepburn, also did so for Natalie Wood in "Westside Story", and for Deborah Kerr in "The King and I".

Have to correct the record here, for so-called "Ghost Singers" like Marni Nixon never received the credit they deserved onscreen. In fact, their contracts usually contained a non-disclosure clause with severe penalties in perpetuity.

Penn & Teller: Bullsh*t - Fitness Frenzy - 27 min. !

wallace says...

I am a long-time P&T fan (I first saw them at the Westside Arts Theatre in NYC in the mid 80s). But sometimes these Bullshit episodes come across as, "Don't believe this guy - he's full of shit. But believe us." Why? They trot out experts - but so do the other bullshitters. I do like the fact that they're very hard to predict (anti-Bible is a no brainer for them, but anti-recycling was a surprise). Best of all, I think they would quickly admit that they are full of it, too.
