Vancouver rioters turn over truck, mob attacks the owner.
>> ^Payback:
You know, in hindsight I'm sure I would have regretted it... but if that was my truck and I was there? I'd punch the switch into 4H and give out a bit of road rash and street pizza to everyone in front of me... if you're not part of the solution, you're traction material.
And you wouldn't care if they sue you with multiple lawsuits?

Well, I can't upvote this because it just makes me sick to my stomach that idiots took over Vancouver's downtown and trashed it. As someone from BC, it pains me to have to see this stuff. I feel like the victim as do most of the people of Vancouver.
Kudos to the guy who tried to stop them and Jeers to the crowd for not standing with him!

Well I was just going through my usual Day to day web sites and Look-EE here what I found !

I am tired of these rioter videos personally.
kissing couple in riot
That was a bit incoherent. All the "research" about the photo and then doesn't tell the story behind it (young woman was injured, and her boyfriend was comforting her.)
I did like his point that about racial stereotypes, but that is about it.
I agree, and the city of Vancouver has a big bill on it's hands [that's true]
What I found compelling was the photo, it's like a Banksy mural.
A statement in it's time.
I'd heard the male is an Aussie and that his parents saw the photo and called CBC.

Also to Harper: Could you please earmark $1 billion for security when Vancouver's in the Stanley Cup finals? Thanks.
We Need A New Too Nice Country, I think Canada Resigned
Congratulations Vancouver!!
From now on, every time you lose the Stanley Cup, every aspiring vandal within commuting distance will come, buy a Canucks jersey, wreck your city, and leave. Enjoy!
Vancouver Celebrates Boston Stanley Cup Victory With Riots
According to his father (as quoted by The Age) she had been knocked down by riot police and he was trying to comfort her, and the photographer happened to choose that exact moment to take the shot. Both photos are consistent with this account, but it did look far creepier without any context.

So for those of you who saw that "romantic" picture of the couple kissing as a contrast to the rioting, I offer you an alternative perspective

I said it in another post for a similar thread. Assholes aren't mutually exclusive to the USA, Canada, or anywhere else... they are among us no matter where you are reading this...
Was a fraction of a percent of the people even on the streets that night let along Vancouver or CANADA...
The stupidity of these morons just shines by virtue of how brazen they are in front of the camera. They are almost all going to get prosecuted in the end. It's still important to remember what a TINY group of people we're talking about here.
Vancouver Unites to Clean Up The City
the people who were involved with the vandalism and theft (i don't like the media using the term anarchists... mainly because of them using it as a blanket term for anyone who is a dissident [which would include valid protesters] and the whole thing involving the definition of an anarchist, once you have more than 1 organized, its a contradiction) went out with masks, gasonline, and paint... they were planning on rioting whether Vancouver won or lost
and in my opinion are some of the most STUPID/MORONIC people I've ever been exposed to... the Vancouver police are saying the flood of photos/videos pouring in from not only people who were simply bystanders, but from social media sites that these IDIOTS posted their own pics/videos of them committing these acts; is quite simply unheard of... they've never seen anything like this in regards to the level of leads they've been getting
the hammer shall drop on these LOWLIFE OPPORTUNISTS/SCUM, not because of Big Brother, but because of upstanding, decent Vancouverites... in this digital day and age, mob mentality can be derailed by coolheaded, law-abiding citizens
my own personal opinion, is the city should prosecute these LOSERS to recover the cost of the damage (not that most could afford to pay it)... and ontop of it, if not jailtime, community service should be involved... but at 10x or higher the normal sentence or the regular sentence, but the person must wear signage indicating why they are in the situation they are... convicted's choice
Excellent footage of the Vancouver Stanley Cup riot 2011

@Sarzy - Thats a really ignorant thing to say. Whats your logic ? " A couple thousand people in a city out of a country of millions have a riot, that reflects on Canada as a whole "
I say this is flawed horrendously. I am ashamed of that sort of logic.
Obviously these hooligans do not represent Canada as a whole, and I'm sorry if I implied that. But it saddens me that this was able to happen at all, and over something as inconsequential as a hockey game no less.
Vancouver Riots - Don't Stand on the Porta Potty
Really? I've never been punched or tased -- but doesn't a punch last a lot longer? Might get you a broken nose? Burst a blood vessel in your eye?
That is a real question -- I know that once you get tased, you don't ever want to be tased again.
But given a choice?
Anybody out there can give us an informed opinion? Or is baashar informed? Have you been subjected to both, baashar?

I don't think cops should have the right to close-fisted punch someone in the face, but then again I don't think I've ever seen anyone like this who so clearly deserved a punch in the face for his behavior.
I would rather be punched in the face than tazed
Excellent footage of the Vancouver Stanley Cup riot 2011
This is one of those things... that is WAY to often forgotten on the sift... this is a VERY small group of assholes making a really great group of people look bad!... Most certainly not a representation of Canadians... folks from Vancouver... or even the silly fans of the team...
Vancouver is a beautiful city and some of the friendliest people i've ever been fortunate enough to visit...
