Can Blind People Draw?

chingalera says...

Blind from births' are surprisingly uplifting to be around-They have no sense of any loss of senses, they have never experienced anything but an inconvenience which usually stems from the sighted dealing with their own egos and frustrations in providing for the "handicapped."

As a child, I remember a primer given to me by a neighbor on my street (also blind from birth) on the perception and interpretation of color-I was convinced that he, having never seen colors himself beyond descriptions from those around him HAD to know at least what the color black "looked" like because that was the predominant color seen on my visual field under artificial deprivation (dark cloth on eyes, etc.). I demanded that he had seen black because he was blind-I kept trying new and improved ways to describe to him the experience of "seeing" the color black all the while he kept laughing more and more!!

cute and depressingly sad at the same time... oh my, if it wasn't for that man's jolly nature I probably would've felt awful.

Helicopter landing hard on the runway

I had a similar fight with one "pilot" before about a Mi-24 Hind crash.
He the one supposedly flying generic civilian helicopters and telling me that forward speed in choppers can never be converted into altitude or at least to decrease the falling speed. Not realizing that a chopper like the Hind has huge wings that actually give a lot of uplift in situations like in this video here or the Hind crash.

Funny how it even seems to work with "wingless" choppers to a lesser extend.

Gas pump prank turns couple into Internet sensation

truth-is-the-nemesis says...

Say it ain't so! The uplifting Californian couple that performed what was thought to be a spontaneous karaoke duet as part of Jay Leno's Tonight Show "Pumpcast News" segment may have actually been hired actors, according to The Smoking Gun. According to the hoax killers, Will Sims and his wife Monifa have been pursuing careers in show business for sometime with Mrs. Sims having appeared on the same "Pumpcast News" segment before more than two years ago. Monifa has since responded to the allegations, claiming it was just a coincidence that she ended up on the show for a second time.

bashar-the simple physics of shifting

shagen454 says...

It is a shame that people refuse to believe there is a next level to what a person can experience. I am intrigued by mundane reality as well as scientific exploration, innovation and theory. But, it is not nearly as fascinating compared to the reality a person can experience for real, inside of their own heads.

I would say that my imagination is fairly basic yet what my friends and I have beholden is absolutely inhuman and incomprehensible; uplifting, life changing.

School Bus Demolition Derby

Confession: As well as pimping this video from my banned account on another video I also voted for it 3 times as choggie, Peckinpaw, and chingalera.

Oh, and I am not at all remorseful about broken roles, rules..breaking rules! It's how my school bus of demolition ROLLS!!

My other car is a happy station wagon with uplifting bumper-stickers and children inside on their way to private Kung Fu lessons...

Second Amendment Rights Gone Wrong

chingalera says...

There IS some sort of enforceable law in place that keeps guns out of the hands of irresponsible people....You are watching it in action. The law of cause and effect works just fine. For example, contestant #2 here on this, uplifting and edifying video of people who better not fucking move in next door to me.

So how do you (Lann) feel about guns, expatriate??

Video Challenge: Nostalgia (Sift Talk Post)

xxovercastxx says...

My own contribution is The intro from Cheers, though finding that inspired this challenge rather than the other way around.

Cheers first aired in 1982 when I was 3 years old. I remember watching it sitting on the living room floor with my dad many nights. The way the theme starts quiet and then blossoms into a full, broad sound is uplifting. The old photos, drawings and painting force me to think/wonder about bygone days and the rich, warm colors feel so comfortable.

Don't laugh, Penisdump is a serious medical condition. It's no laughing matter.

I just had a penis dump and it wasn't painful at all. In fact, it was quite uplifting and I recommend it to all those with penises.

A *commercial and it stinks of it from the outset.

Very little about the slide ride itself, concentration is on how we're all super best friends and having a really fucking uplifting time consuming the VooRay product.

I was too lazy to go back and verify the spelling -- which I still struggle with even after all these years....

The sifter. I think that is a noble and uplifting label!

If there is any way to unkill your original, I will gladly transfer these votes to you. Because you are, indeed, The Sifter.

For all that, I do accede to your demand for payment for the (non-existent to me) slight.

Name your vid! If I have the point, it shall be yours!

"The sifter" killed it? How dehumanising. You owe me a promote, BB.

Romney bragging about Bain Capital days and factory in China

rebuilder says...

>> ^volumptuous:
That is the exact opposite to his claim of "knowing how to create jobs, my friends."

Clearly he knows how to create jobs in China.

In any case, I have to say I'm willing to believe people really do desperately want to work in that factory, or others like it. That's not a particularly uplifting thought, in fact I think it's maybe even worse than if the factory was holding the workers in by force. That people want to work in sweatshops is an indication of a society with deep, deep problems.

I'm not defending Romney, by the way. Treating workers badly because they can't afford to demand better is abuse just the same as treating them badly because they're slaves. I'm just not sure the claim about his credulity is backed up by the video.
