That’s what I thought. Nothing substantive to say.

“Drag is disgusting, child abusing grooming unless it’s a Republican in the makeup and pantyhose, then drag is just fun theater for the whole family.”
Or “Drag is disgusting child abusing grooming unless it’s only twice on tv, then it’s just for fun.”

Those positions hardly make you sound serious or adult.
You have offered no actual defense at all.
Just kindergarten “yor a dummy” type responses. 😂

He’s a drag Queen. She’s a cheating man/woman that violates her oath to god constantly without a thought, but claims to embody white Christian values.

Nothing you’ve said even attempts to claim otherwise.

Man Rips Up His Cash Over Seat Belt Ticket

visionep says...

I'm having a hard time imagining the case where wearing a seat belt is going to make you have better control of your car after a collision.

Your moral case, for wearing a seatbelt, while personally compelling, doesn't mean the government should be controlling that activity for individuals. Being selfish is usually not a crime.

There is shared risk if you look deep enough in all activities that people engage in throughout their lives. Newtboy's assertion that these types of activities should be regulated because of their knock-on effects doesn't seem practical in a "free" society.

The reason I don't understand why this is a law is because the affects to society are so low and are similar to many other unregulated choices people are allowed to make. The inconsistency is painful.

Seat belts will better help keep you in control of your vehicle after a collision. If your car rolls over or you go sideways into a tree it helps keep you from back, head and neck injuries which could leave you with pain and mobility issues long after the crash. I also see it as being very selfish to your family and loved ones who potentially may have to care for you if you survive, in which case you will be very annoyed and annoying.

It should be mandated by government because some people think they are the best drivers ever.

Does any of your family members drive the disabled alarm car?

RC Rock Crawler Sumo

cloudballoon says...

I don't remember the model my brothers & I had anymore, as it was like over 3 decades ago, but they were analog Tamiyas. In addition to being analog sticks, there were sliders that I can fine tune acceleration limits on every axis (can control helicopters too). And that was then. Can't imagine entering these competition without these type of advanced controls with if you have a in-it-to-win-it mentality.

Easy to do with RC. The difference between enough throttle to move and way too much is minuscule…or at least was when I had RC cars.

Ukraine losing 500 troops daily in Bakhmut fight

newtboy says...

How do you never tire of being so idiotically wrong constantly? It’s actually impressive you can continue when literally everything you claim falls apart, often before you can even type it.

Russian front lines in Bakhmut have collapsed.
Russian flanks have retreated.
Russian armor is in retreating out of Bakhmut.
Ukraine is hitting Russian command centers in far East Ukraine with new longer range next gen missiles…they have hundreds of them now in country. These can reach Crimea and Russia proper, maybe even Moscow.
In one day recently two Mi-8 helicopters, one Su-34 and one Su-35 have been confirmed to have been downed near Klintsy, Bryansk, Russia. That’s 4 high value aircraft all covered by multiple levels of electronic missile jamming technology deep inside Russia shot down, indicating clearly Russian air defense cannot protect against the class of weapons just delivered to Ukraine.
The Ukrainian counter offensive hasn’t even begun and Russia is already on the run. I fully support Ukraine taking 100 miles into Russia as a buffer zone, exactly like Russia wanted to use Ukraine. I think it’s a good possibility and I fully support arming and funding Ukrainian expansion as far as they want to go. I’m not alone. Russia may be ending….at best it’s retreating to third world status as an international pariah with few allies and a looming civil war.

One more prognostication made by you quickly turned to shit.
Russia won’t stop….losing.
You know exactly how that feels.

BTW- #walkaway is real this time, but people are walking away from the toxic party of death debauchery dishonesty and destruction...the party of insanity inconsistency immorality and inability…the MAGA right. 😂

Harry Belafonte - Day-O

noims says...

I had honestly thought his first performance of that song on TV wasn't until 1978, where he did my favourite. Maybe the above doesn't count as it was a stage show that happened to be filmed.

Apparently he was good friends with Jim Henson, which only makes it sweeter.

Best Things About Being Blind

- handicapped rear view hanging fuzz-dice-type-o-things are transportable to folks using their autos to transport handicapped people.

- the light thing is somewhat negligible. in this neck-of-woods, lots of folks barely leave enough lights on to even note they're home.

- the 'mouth & heart' benefit is universal if one pays attention.

- they do have their own network...as in...those so blind they refuse to see (Rupe pluckin' those pigeons).

- sure you'd miss out on MTG but Chaplin films as well (gawd i love slapstick): just the opening > https://youtu.be/Sj4Lb7yD_fY

Car commercial that may make you choke up just a bit

cloudballoon says...

Video ads are not limited to traditional TV anymore. Ads on YouTube often runs more than 2 minutes. Skippable though.

This one is going for the feels. Whether you like it strictly depends on how cynical a person you are.

My father passed away this February. So this year's Father Day is going to be a little tough, as these type of ads will shows up right after Mother's Day.

Was there really a commercial in Japan that ran for more than 3 minutes on TV? I'm used to seeing shorter 15-30 second videos in the States. The car commercials that I usually see are unappealing and never have a any sort of positive impact on me. In fact many make me dislike the company for how they are attempting to manipulate the viewer. Not saying i'd be more inclined to buy a Toyota after watching this but i payed attention and i enjoyed it. So i guess they succeeded with me in some way.

Tesla Cam captures INSANE crash

cloudballoon says...

Not an expert, but it could be a domino effect of a loose screw scenario, causing all the screws to be snapped off. Here in Toronto (Canada), we've seen significance increases of fatal accidents of these type because of (mostly truck's) poor maintenance causing wheels flying off & killed people. It's the driver's (or trucking companies') fault. The interviewed Police usually warn viewers that because we here often need (and should!) change between summer/winter tires, we need to make sure the tires are balanced and the screws are properly tightened. The garages usually wash their hands off from accident liabilities and insurance companies rarely go after the garages as well.

visionep said:

I hope everyone escaped without long term injuries.

I wonder how liability works in a case like this.

Possible scenarios:
1. Freak accident, no one is liable.
2. Truck owner is liable, but only because they modified their car from manufacturer spec?
3. Truck manufacturer is liable, faulty construction?
4. State or federal government is liable because of something in the road that make the truck's tire fall off.
5. After market kit provider or after market kit installer is liable because their modification lead to the failure that caused the tire to come off.

I wonder how it all worked out.
