Blankfist Has Returned!!! (Happy Talk Post)

chingalera says...

^ and this motherfucker....Hey there gwix, what's shakin'?

Ok I had a pm from Mr Houston that calmed me right the fuck down-I won't be getting the choggie channel back and agree with his sentiments, though the process to arrive at the decision perplexes and bewilders me.

I shall remain the Mexican whore that I have created and sit quietly in the corner with the pointy hat again.

blankfist, bring some lube to our next conversation...Oh wait, I forgot. douchebags don't engage in conversation and they work it dry...

KP, leave me the fuck out of any of your banter, please. Hope yer on yer meds.

Apologies once again to miss J, she's kind and gracious to a fault and I am grateful that I was chosen as one of the strays to come in from the cold for some warm cream.....Next time please, tell me who yer inviting to the trough, I have a hard time getting along with douchebags but I understand that certain breeds are attracted to them....

Texas Siftup Imminent? (Sift Talk Post)

chingalera says...

The Texas Renaissance Festival in in Montgomery county just north of Magnolia, Tx. in Todd Mission,Tx. (mapfart) -It's touted by organizers to be the biggest such event in the country...Lotta fun, great place for the whole family, plenty to do and see and EAT!

3 sifters are in Dallas, the only other I know besides myself lives not too far from Houston, where I'm at...

Anywhere we hold it it's gonna mean some driving.

I suggested this place:
http://www.firstmondaycanton.com/

Thursday through Sunday before the first Monday of every month in Canton, Texas this massive outdoor flea market and trade fair rocks about 10 acres of all kinds of coolness.....Bring a couple hundred bucks and come home with plenty of great stuff!!

Or just pay admission and stroll and check out everything, food vendors galore, stuff to do....

Renfest rocks and you can stay all day and night, and there's massive brews, music, dancing, staged-events...great costumes, plenty of comic-con-type costumes, some extremely elaborate and well-made. Always a winner, Renfest.

Or we could do one of those trough buffets like a Golden Corral and crash the place and build a drunken mountain outta mac n cheese and chicken tendorz.....$12.95 to get thrown out of a Golden Corral??? Priceless.

Climate Change; Latest science update

bcglorf says...

If we take Mann as an authority, the EIV reconstruction is the most reliable. The EIV reconstruction shows at least 2 other locations over the last 2k years that have had temperature changes as abrupt as the last 100 years without the benefit of humans.

That there is at least some evidence that on at least two occasions over the last 2k years, climate HAS been as warm or warmer [< INCORRECT] than current.

You'll be keen to note that human civilization, (technically now a global civilization with 7 Billion people, obviously more than ever before,) did not prosper through those past climate changes (not the minor fluctuations that Mann shows, but those further back in time). In this video he points out that temperature has not varied by more than 1 degree in the last 10,000 years, this is a scientifically sound statement.
BcGlorf you keep arguing that it did, according to Mann, but the greatest deviation is by only about 0.8 degrees, we are heading for 2.0 on on track for 6.0 degrees change, Im pretty fucking sure your insistence that we needn't panic is based on conjecture and hearsay. Show me your PHD in any scientific discipline and I'll take you more seriously, but from reading through all your posts, frankly, you just don't seem to get it. 0.8 is not 1.0. If you want to have a peer reviewed paper battle, I'd win, but you strike me as one who can't let him/herself believe that the world could go so wrong. Might I suppose you are a person whom prescribes to a certain faith?

Very helpful, you dismiss me with a wave of the hand and a declaration of your own credentials. Mean while I'm pointing at specific data with a specific question and argument. It's hard to swallow an appeal to authority while insisting that authority not be pestered with any questions.

I'm measuring trough to peak, but the point remains, THE CLIMATE CHANGED IN THE PAST, but this one is caused by us (undeniable) and its effects will be experienced by us as none of the other climate changes occurred when there were 7 billion people dependent on a stable climate.

Why we need to protect Social Security

Phreezdryd says...

Corporations attempts to soften us to the idea of the elderly working, instead of feeding at the trough of that socialist big government ponzi scheme called social security. Doesn't Wal*Mart have commercials like this?

Liberal and Conservative Brains are Physically Different

HaricotVert says...

Isn't that exactly what I just said? That regardless of how "hard" (the word is in quotations because I am not sure if semantically speaking we are working from the same definition of "more hours worked") someone works, the government is already taking a set amount? I've bolded your own words that mirror my own.

If the government takes a quarter of what you make no matter how hard you work, are you going to work harder?

If the government takes 1/10th of what you make no matter how hard you work, are you going to work harder?

If the government takes 1/100th of what you make no matter how hard you work, are you going to work harder?

That was exactly my point and you seem to agree with it - the government is taking a set amount regardless of how hard you work, whether that's 15 hours a week or 40 hours a week or 80 hours a week. How "hard" (again, as in # of hours) someone works is irrelevant to how much the government is taking.

Your underlying assumption is that working more hours = more money, which is simply not the case for 1. all salaried employees in the workforce and 2. businesses that are subject to market forces/demand. How can someone work 80 hours a week if their business doesn't have sufficient demand/customers to even produce that much? That's like saying home construction workers/architects/building contractors at the trough of the housing crisis would have worked harder if only the government would lower taxes on their income. That's bullshit because home building and renovations/improvements were at record lows during that time.

Unemployment itself is a far, far bigger problem than lowering taxes if we're talking about average Joe Citizen trying to make an honest living.

>> ^quantumushroom:

Why do you think you're the standard for what I'm talking about? You're not running a business, are you? Because those people put in 80 hours a week easily, and are preyed on by the system far more than regular workers.
This isn't rocket science, peeps. If you shovel sh1t for 10 hours and the government takes half of what you make no matter how hard you work, are you going to work harder? I'm dealing with liberals so I've tried to type as slowly as possible.
Oh, and Genjkerk, I'll remove the splinter from mine eye when you remove the beam from yours.

Britain is a Riot

bremnet says...

There is a balance between society as a whole providing opportunities and personal responsibility for ones own actions. Sure, kids can feel they have no opportunities if they are locked in a cycle of irresopnsible parents = irresponsible kids. But anyone with an IQ large enough to allow them to tie their own shoes knows that smashing windows, setting fire to others personal property, stealing, and all the other crap that went down is wrong and criminal, regardless of how horrible their home life is. The coddling of these whining morons with a sense of entitlement who look on social programs as a way to fuck the system rather than as a way of getting out of the loop of despair for future generations has to stop. The trough is empty, the programs don't work, and the people who participated in these riots are simply criminals that should be dealt with more harshly than they will be.
